So what your saying wilko's is that the intake manifold/TB isn't a restriction on a 18g?

hey bill ,didn't say that your throttle body/intake manifold mod would not do the extra power,i'm sure it does ,all i was interested in was seeing some results. In evoland we don't touch the intake manifold/throttle body till well over 500bhp as it isn't the bottleneck.Cams/pulleys are bread and butter for evo's. Dynojet's in my opinion overead immensly,i'd only trust dyno dynamics which read slightly lower than mustang dyno's(remember them bill).Either way like you said same dyno should show gains if run in the same way.I've seen some wild claims in the us so i tend to be a bit scepticle.

I have'nt seen any of the EVO's I race against run other than stock inlet manifolds of t'bodies... Maybe they (Norris) simply have'nt twigged to it as free power as yet.

the gains "on the same dyno" Ryan, regardless of their actual figures (which obviously there are opinions on Dynopjets and every other dyno on the planet...), are before and after on the same Dyno, same car

Gains were had in the high 200 low 300 whp, so gains are had - FACT. You will get more gains if you start with higher figures as I have said many times.

20-30whp gains on those 300whp level is a very good "bolt on" addition. Cams may not add quite as much, but shift the power delivery upward in fact.

You dont see many bolt on's give these gains, after remapping.

:D

Hey Bill,as you can see the standard cams in the evo are pretty crap so a decent set can see gains across the range not just lifting upwards(see dyno above) perhaps the 1.8t standard cams are not so bad?
We are blessed in evoland that we have alot of choice when it comes to inlet manifolds and have been tested extensively but people don't start looking at them till over 500bhp,I believe Norris runs the hks kansai Inlet Manifold regarded as the best for power.
I'd still like to see before and after for the throttle body/inlet manifold at the same boost level.

what size is the 1.8t throttle body? On evo's it's 60mm and can be ported to 65mm and if you port the stock intake manifold it will give you around 8whp.

Norris reckons you need at least gt35 to start bothering with TB's and Intake manifolds,so thats 550bhp+ In testing on a 600bhp car the best gain seen with a 80mm TB and intake was about 30-40bhp and the same in torque some actually lost power to stock!!

I have a OBDII VR6 throttle body sitting in the garage. Had it for ages, might as well give it a go as it will cost me nowt.

I've seen this adapter from 034:

But it looks pointless IMO. Why bother adding a larger throttle to then have the adapter reduce it back down to 60mm? Plus I don't like the 45° orientation.

There is enough meat on the manifold to port it out to 70mm or close to. I've made a quick 3D mockup drawing for an adapter that I think will work with the standard inlet manifold. Rotates it much less.
Phil, is this similar to the one you are having made up?

I take it back to back dyno is the best way to record the findings, but would mass air flow g/s give an indication?

I would of thought it would be very similar to that one as Tom from Ross is making it and that looks very much like the one they do for the R32 throttle body...

not the case on 1.8t & I doubt its the case on evo either unless their stock t'body is already big. +32bhp on 485bhp when charged to 75mm t'body and 007 when I fitted it.
