Jumpy idle on 1.9 tdi

Hi guys, i've noticed a lumpy idle on my 2000 1.9 tdi leon. I noticed that the little rail that sits on the glowplugs the fourth one had melted, I have replaced that rail with one from a scrappy however its still jumping. It will go from 800rpm to 1000rmp and back down until warm. I'm replacing the glow plugs tomarrow to see if that could be the issue. I also noticed that the little black lever attached to the EGR valve moves in time with the jumping? Whenever i hold it and stop it moving the car idles fine. I also read the codes for the car and i'm constantly getting code P1250 - Fuel level too low. Can anyone shine any light on the issue. Also just to add the idle doesn't change when i press the depress the clutch pedal.

I used to have a Golf GT TDI with the 1.9 130PD engine with the same issue, and it turned out to be the coolant temp sensor. Fairly cheap to buy. I got mine from Darkside Developments. But it is also not a bad idea to get an EGR delete as well.

I replaced that a couple of months ago mate. I can also hear a clicking noise comming from what looks to be a valve just to the left of the air filter with a load of vac hoses going to it.

Ahh Fair play. I would go down the route of replacing EGR valve. Might even be worth doing an EGR delete at a later stage. I know with most remaps this is offered as standard (if you were looking into doing that of course!)

May be worth swapping the EGR solenoid (N18) and the VNT controller (N75).

They both work the same and have use the same connector. Might be worth a go.

Also when did you have the fuel filter changed? Could be clogged. It might be worth putting some injector cleaner through the car too. Run it double concentrate to give it a good clean.

Also, what engine is i? 110, 130 or 150?

I had another thought too, it could be a cracked or damaged vacuum line which is causing the actuators to pulse due to a poor vacuum.

I'm thinking this has nothing to do with glow plugs, you can start a car with 4 dead glow plugs and once it's going will be fine.
