Went out today for a test drive at Marshalls Seat in Cambridge in a Ref Sport 2.0TDI complete with advertising banners
I was pretty impressed, dealer was happy for us to go out alone and we missed our turnoff on the carriageway so ended up going a bit longer than planned. The car seemed very comfortable and quiet, good pull on it for overtaking even in 6th gear, I'm not a real expert of these things but it definitely felt better handling than my old one.
Got back to the dealers and they had valued my car (03 Seat Leon 1.9TDI 110bhp, only 12,000 miles on the clock) at £8k which I was pretty impressed with as I had thought that Parkers part exchange value of £7.5k was very optimistic.
Before going I had priced up new Leon on Drivethedeal.com and I didn't expect them to match the £16k for the 2.0TDI Sport (with Xenon's, parking sensors, bluetooth, spare wheel, heated seats, auto mirror/wipers/lights) and Marshalls came with a total for about £18k with all the options and did not want to budge from that price, although he was willing to give another £250 on the part exchange. He was very surprised with the price of the drivethedeal website and couldn't see how they could do it for that price.
I realise that if I buy it off the 'web' then I will have to privately sell my car which is a right pain as there is a 12 week build time on the new car, and if anything is wrong with it when it arrives such as damaged paint then it would need to go back to the dealers!
So I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on the offer?
Thanks
