Hi all
New to this thread
I have bought a seat ibiza 1.2 12v 53 plate it has done about 109450 on the clock
The problem is that my car was juttering while stationery the whole car was shaking as if it was in a earthquake however when i was revving the car the car did not shake, when i took my foot off the accelerator and the car reached 1000 revs it started to shake again and looked as if it was losing power.
I turned the car off and looked at the ignition coils the first one and last one looked tight however the middle one looked loose so i took it out. when i took it out one of the pins was broken and another pin was stuck in the plug. It looks as if the plug was a little melted.
1 hour before this i had changed with a friend the oil and the oil filter and not forgetting the spark plugs.
What do you think needs changing can it just be the one ignition coil that needs changing or is it something else, would i need a new plug with the wires or just a plug?
Also the thing i got confused with was why did the car not jutter when i was revving the car, and how could i have burnt/melted the plug, my mate did accidentally spill a little oil on the ignition coils could this have made all these problems.
Ive only had the car for about 4 days and is my 1st car. Also when i did buy the car it felt a little slugish i thought it needed a a service.
What do you guys think i should do.
Also im new to cars and dont know much, can i have as much detail in answers as possible
Thanks
I really love this car

Service it, sounds like the fuel filter i had a similar problem on my old 1.2 change of oil and fuel filter worked a treat.. May of course be something more serious but imo just do the above

I had this issue when I was low on petrol, turned out it was crap in the bottom of the fuel tank.. I had a new fuel filter and drained and cleaned out the tank :) Although it could be a misfire or something? Or timing is out?

changed the ignition coil and now it is running much better, no more shaking.
anyways new problem
i have changed the brake pads and now i have a scraping noise quite loud when i go over 20 mph. do you think it is a brake pad?
Also i asked a man from the local garage and he said it is the brake pads and they will go better, no more noise after a couple of days, don't really believe him because he is a cowboy mechanic.
what do you suggest it is and what can i do?
