Hi,
First things first. Has anyone got/had one of these kit? Was it any good?
The reason I ask is because I would like to put one on my car. It's only the little 1.2 (not tsi) but I like the look of them not reli bothered about performance but I do like the sound they make. I have seen a few universal k&n Apollo kits on eBay and was wondering if it will fit my engine?

Thanks

It will fit since is universal. But it wont be very stable. I had one and i went back to the oem, since it was loose and wasnt a good way to hold it rigth.

I strongly recommend to go for a especifc air intake.

Surely the sound it makes will depend on what engine it's attached to? If you have heard it on a bigger engine, you might be disappointed to hear it when it's attached to your own car.

Why make a slow car slower and less enjoyable to drive?? All it will do is soak up heat from the engine and make it really sluggish! There are numerous other threads on here regarding induction kits

FYI "Universal" doesn't mean its a universal fit... in the real world it means "here you go, now make it fit yourself" ;)

The Apollo is a closed intake so not sure how much heat it will soak up but as said before a universal kit will be more difficult to fit.

Would be best to build a bracket for it

I've no idea what you'd even mount it to? The flimsy aluminium flexi duct they supply wouldn't deter the heat in the slightest either. The only thing I can think of that may work is if you were to make up an intake duct using Samco (or other brand) silicone hosing which is rigid and will keep the engine heat at bay, then you could try and mount the Apollo on the end of that somewhere near the grille?? Either way you'd probably need some kinda custom bracket made up to support it all.

Easier solution if you're just after a bit of noise.... stick a different backbox on it ;) never fails and probably won't have too much of an adverse effect on performance/drivability as long as you don't go too big
