Rather than going for an expensive replacement turbo for the K04, such as the Garret one mentioned above you can have your exisiting K04 turbo modified.

This is relatively new for the K04 but some companies now offering this modification.

Secondly just out of curiousity you say have an 'FR'. As standard the FR ran the K03 turbo so assuming you already upgraded to K04? If you do still have the K03 then 300 bhp is probably about right as you looking at 40bhp difference as standard k03 v k04.

Might also be worth adding an intercooler such as one from THS or APR to keep things nice and cool and possible looking at a better induction kit that your CAI.

What remap are you running, revo, custom code, GIAC etc? You mention a stage 3 meth-map ?

hi how can i check if i have the K03 or the K04? also if i have the K03 is it just a simple swap over?

I put the K04 in my car and I using Unitronic Stage 2+ HPFP File. I feel my car slow now, and I want a little more power in top end, because is in redline where the power disapear.

Soon I will put a 3071 in my car but for now I like take the K04 to the levels of power of 350 Hp like I see in most of forums.

It was a missile before though .

I would be keen to see how much faster it would be vs the same car with a stock K04 turbo  Realistically though, without trying to sound negative about it, even if it was say 20bhp more, how much that would equate to on the road when you are near enough at 400bhp anyway?

Just going off what John (Hurdy) has told me from his death ride last week. He feels like it had a good 40bhp more than his (granted this is Bum dyno figures)..

what else needs to be changed to put a k04 in my fr then?
Quite a bit, from what I've read. I would think it'd be much easier and possibly cheaper to swap your FR for a Cupra, as there are various engineering improvements to the engine, chassis, etc as well as the K04 that you're looking for, all of which make the Cupra a better choice for modding if you get a bhp addiction. ;)

if say average 30bhp increase but it doesnt tail off like the oem K04 so it holds power for another 1-2000rmp which will show a massive differance on the road against a stage 2+ car. im estimating low 12seconds on the 1/4mile for his ed30

Nothing a phillips screwdriver, a hammer and some double-sided tape couldn't sort.. :D

Indeed

Not sure how the injectors might take to being smacked by a hammer though, and I am not sure double sided tape may be the best thing to relocate the DV or hold the different manifold/turbo assy in place

I going to install APR Ic, and neuspeed IC pipe in a few days, I hope gain some Whp

Definately;), best mod i have done so far. KO4 turbo's can be got cheap enough off ebay if you keep looking. With the hybrids con rods might be under more stress though.

full k04 engine and tranny on ebay currently for a grand. no ecu though.
