Key Fob - Cover/Repair

Had a search through the forum but couldn’t find anything on this. I have one key fob and a spare key without a fob, the key unlock button gets stuck sometimes and the key looks to be a bit pressed in and doesn’t feel tactile.

I wondered if there’s a way to refurb the key, I’ve seen replacement aftermarket fobs but understand that you have to move the internals over which are sensitive or get them cut and coded which can be expensive.

One idea I have is to get a fob cover of some sort as to atleast stop the key being pressed so easily in my pocket, really I’d like to replace the fob or atleast get it refurbished. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

the main thing is not to damage the transponder (it's glass) otherwise it is fairly well covered elsewhere if your not confident I would use a specialised auto locksmith shouldn't be to expensive (not the stealership)

Refurbed the key this evening, bought the bottom half of the fob on eBay for £2.89

The transponder and key where absolutely fine on my key, the buttons had become worn and pressed easily in my pocket. All I had to move over was the PCB and battery into the new bottom half of the case then slot it into the top half of the key. Finished result:

I have a red rubber case on order, cost 99p:

So all in all, a pretty easy and cheap DIY job.
