Hi all. I have just bought a '04 Toledo tdi sport and only have the transponder key. Have spent a lot of time looking to see what key I need to buy to give me a remote key...hells teeth! 2 button, 3 button, flip blade, square, oval(ish) the choice is amazing (daunting!).

Anyway I can find out what type of key i need or do i just go to local seat dealers here in newcastle, bite the bullet and pay £100 for coding and £85 for a new key?? Seems a little extortionate to me!

Thanks for the reply. Don't you have to take the transponder out of your old key? I have looked at some of the Ebay keys and they seem to say I would have to take parts out of my old key, which is impossible as I don't have one to take parts from.

If you just have the key without any buttons on you just need to take the immobiliser chip out and put it in the new key (but be very careful). Then it will start the car but then you need to get the remote programmed to the car.

He's only got one key, he says that in his first post.

Two parts to the remote key, the wireless remote and the immobiliser transponder.

I believe it is possible to get new transponders from eBay. A new transponder can be registered with your immobiliser using vAG-com, if you have the SKC, the Secret Key Code that comes with the keys. However I think that by 2004 they had stopped giving out the SKC and the only way to get a transponder registered is through a dealer who can connect his diagnostic computer to VAG and get a temporary SKC for the duration of the coding exercise.
