Knocking from engine?

Hi all, I picked up my shiny 58 plate 2.0 TDI FR last weekend and I just want to ask if what I'm hearing is normal or I should be worried about.

Basically the car makes a knocking sound when I'm coasting from the engine. No power applied and if I touch the brakes or accelerator the knocking stops until I stop braking/accelerating. Doesn't happen all the time but I've noticed it a fair bit. I've come from having petrol cars forever so I don't know what is normal.

Any advice on what this could be greatly appreciated.

Ive got an 08 FR an it definitely doesn't knock. Doesn't sound normal to me, was it private or trade sale?

Hi, it was trade so I'm going to ring the dealer tomorrow. I just wasn't sure if it was a normal noise for the car so didn't want to be fobbed off with them all doing it. Thanks.

Keep us posted but deffo not normal. You checked engine covers etc.

Engine mounts maybe?

Thanks guys was the engine covers, not fixed in properly was making a knocking sound
