Hi All,

I'm not all that experienced with mechanics, Just basic knowledge. I'm having the following issue:

Seat Leon Cupra 1p 2.0 tfsi engine cutting out/ RPM drops under boost. I can drive around 2k rpm just fine, as soon as I try to raise rpm's accelerating to about 2.5-3k the whole engine feels like it cuts out and quickly comes back on and the dials drop right down and then come back again when it returns the cars back to about 2k again.

This video show what is happening when i'm idling and rev it a bit.

Thanks in advance!

Hi it sounds like a misfire but really hard to pinpoint like this. Have you got someone who can scan the car and see if you can get a clue in which area the car thinks the problem is? For example is it showing a misfire on cylinder3 etc. Have you recently done anything to the car work wise prior to this problem big or small?
It might be a coilpack breaking down under load but usually this would flash the EML while misfiring on these.
Where are you based I can scan it for you if you’re not hours away.

Hi thanks for this, didnt do any work it, just randomly started these symtoms. I also didn't get an EML. I ended up taking it to a specialist and they found that there was an airleak from the recirculation piping off the air intake. They've sealed it for now, but it's a fairly old airtec intake and I expect I'll get a Ramair intake to replace it, if the repair seal breaks again in the future. Thankful it was a really small issue!

Hi I've just bought a 2l tfsi leon fr. Whe. Your revving it up to or Over 3k the engine cuts out and then re starts. Apparently it has had new coil packs and spark plugs. If anyone could help that would be great.

My issue which was similar ended up being a faulty crank sensor. It could be the sensor itself or faulty wiring. I am not a mechanic and this was just the cause of my problem diagnosed by a garage. Just an idea for you to look at.

Also have you checked to see if the car runs fine with the MAF unplugged? If so, could be a faulty MAF sensor or a blockage around the sensor in the hoses.

This is all presuming the engine is cutting out under boost (mine kicks in hard around 3.5k)

Cheers for a response. The diverter valve needs replacing. Im about to get that sorted. I'll check the maff sensor. It does drive. I'll get a reader on, see if the crank sensor comes up

Good shout, I forgot about this. I actually replaced first, but misdiagnosed it and it wasn't the issue for me. Does happen to be a common thing on these cars though. Hopefully that's all it is, because it's relatively cheap. I didn't bother with a GFB diverter valve as I personally prefer the Revision G one.

Hopefully it's nothing crazy. I'll take a look at the weekend. Whe. I bought the car, the guy said he thought it was the diverter valve. I've never changed a crank sensor before. Is it an easy fix?
