knocking from front suspension on cupra???

Hi,

My cupra is an 07 with 43k on it and noticed a knocking noise coming from the front drivers side suspension. It only occurs when traveling over bumps at low speeds, so I fitted new anti roll bar drop links on thursday. But no joy. Took it to a mechanic today and he says the shock, bushes etc all look fine.

Anybody any ideas?

Could be the steering rack, they can cause a knocking noise at low speeds. I know mines knackered on the drivers side. What about the top mount did he check that?

Top mount is likely.

Thanks for the pointers, I will get the rack checked out first because I only fitted two new top mounts at 30k when I fitted the eibach sportlines and gas shocks. Will get it checked on thursday when I'm off university and update here with my findings, may help others who have the same problem.

I had this same thing on my FR, during a Service, upon inspection, SEAT said it was one of the suspension bushes came out of position!?!? Hence as it had slipped, meant rather than it providing some cushioning, you got more of this thud when the suspension rebounds.

Have been told by the mechanic it is not going to cause issues with the car or suspension and that its fine the way it was (apart from the annoying noise every now and then). Would be resolved by getting the car off the ground and re-seating the Spring assembly.

Guys, mine turned out to be losse nut on top of my strut, the one that holds the top mount on.

Tightened up and all is now quiet

It aint easy! You have to remove the wiper on the offending side of the car (passenger or driverside).

Then take off the rubber seal which runs along the scuttle panel under the bonnet, you will
see it once the bonnet is open, its at the very edge of the scuttle panel with the bonnet open.

Then lift up the plastic trim and either access it with a deep socket and ratchet or a goose necked spanner. Cant remember the size of socket needed lol.

Have patience because it is a nightmare!!!!!!!!!
