Lambda bank 1 sensor. How long should they last?

Hi. Just a quick question, in the last 2 years I have gone through 3 lambda bank 1 sensors. Today I had my car remapped and during the mapping the lambda started playing up. One minute it worked then it didn't. I now have an engine light.

Just to bear in mind last week I changed the sensor. 🤔

I dont know. Was it fitted at a garage?
Sounds very cheap to me. I could be wrong.

Even the cheap ones should be fit for purpose. But in the real world, not necessarily.
Have a Google and find your local motor factors. These are the places garages use to get their parts. Find out prices of the sensor in NGK and/or BOSCH.
75+ vat seems very cheap to me.
If theyre asking that for it, the chances are the garage is fitting crap to your car.
I had the very same sensor fitted to my car a couple of weeks ago. Was a genuine part from SEAT. cost me ÂŁ175+vat. Ive still got my fingers crossed that my light doesn't come back on again lol. The one removed from my car was (believed to be) the cars original and my car has done 121k now.

It could easily be a fault with something else but its worth being 100% happy and confident in the sensor thats fitted so if it doesn't fix the fault, you can confidently move on and check other things.

Also, ive heard that bosch arnt the best anymore as production has moved to China and the quality had dropped. Maybe true, maybe not.

when i had my Clio16v years ago the genuine lambda cost was around 90 quid so that sounds about right but still bloody dear, thing is some cars you have too use certain genuine sensors like the maf for example or it throws a light , genuine Toyota lambdas are like ÂŁ400 and theirs three depending on car and that price was a few years ago, i put that in there so you can feel better what you paid lol, one thing i worry about is you don't see genuine mafs on auto sites for sale just hope they not been discontinued

Hello chaps, so I just had my car stage 2 mapped by Tuning Technics.

Straight away when we went out the ECU wasn't trimming the fuel at all. Chris seemed a bit worried by this. After he put his own base file on it the lambda started to work. Chris believes that my garage deleted the lambda? A while ago I had water in my ECU so changed it and my garage put a Performance Torque map on it. Maybe they removed the sensor warning due to not being able to trim the fuel?

Out on the road be changed the map setting etc but then the lambda stopped working then started working again. Properly annoying.
