Hello ,
Is there a way of permanently switching off the Lane assist function ? Have to do it manually on every journey and how do I check if the latest version of the software is currently installed ?

It is possible to set it to On/Off/Memory when the car is started; it can be done via OBD11 or VCDS. So try to find someone close to your location that already has one of the two.

Purchase OBDeleven NextGen and 20 credits - Activate Lane Assist Setting Memory (enables it to remember last setting) then deactivate Lane Assist Information Message - the warning message that stays on if lane assist is off.

On a personal note; the lane assist on MQB Evo vehicles is less intrusive than it used to be, when passive, I don't recommend turning it off. Maybe because I'm a diehard travel assist user, I think it's one of the better more confident active lane hold systems from 2020 onwards.

System information (in the settings menu I think) will tell you the software version. 1969 is the current latest for the Formentor.

Your information should be entered with caution because there is a deadline when even OBD11 can no longer carry out these settings.

If the car is a Facelift model, it has SFD2 - therefore it cannot be unlocked AFAIK. For pre-facelift models it's still ok; basically for all models of the group using MiB3 it will be ok. For the updated/facelift versions using the newer protection it cannot be done yet.

I don't mean SFD. I know it from Skoda, it hasn't been working there for a while

the storage is not done via the MIB
