Laser Wheel Alignment

Bought my 2.0TDI sport as an ex-demonstrator with 8K miles and have covered a further 20K this year. Was surprised at the road noise which got really bad when I switched the front and rear wheels round to even wear. Eventually had to replace both front tyres beacuse of punctures and the technician noticed some uneven wear on the front tyres (which had been on the rear).

Anyway - the question is: should I go for 4-wheel laser alignment at £85 to make sure everything is OK or just put up with the possibility that the rear wheel alignment is a little out?

Anybody else had similar marginal alignment issues?

In my opinion, if you can afford it, its worth having the alignment checked properly. You never know what-else it may find.

I had my wheels aligned when I bought 2 new tyres recently, due to uneven wear on the old ones. It was a free check at my tyre place, with a charge of £18 per axle if any adjustments were needed. Both the front and rear needed adjustment, so £36 in total. (plus the £220 for the tyres, of course!)

Worthwhile to get it done, but £85 seems a lot.
