HI guys i have had my leon cupra r for over a year now and its been nothing but bother since i started.

when i bought the car it had a good spec

it had Hybrid turbo, LSD, 3" downpipe, forge front mount cooler, and de cat and sports cat, milltek back exhaust.

after i had it a couple of months it developed a missfire

i checked compression and found that the engine was down on one cylinder.

so i decided to strip engine. put a new cylinder head on and replaced a piston and added some forged rods.

after this i added a hybrid turbo from Turbo dynamics and built the car all back up.

after i rebuilt engine and put new turbo on i built it back up and it pulled great even although it hadnt been mapped. i decided that i would make sure there werent any problems before i mapped it to make sure it was safe to do so. i ran it and found that after some driving the car was limiting boost to 5psi after some miles driving. i scanned the car with vag com and found

17695 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249): Open Circuit
P1287 - 35-00 - -
17705 - Pressure Drop between Turbo and Throttle Valve (check D.V.!)
P1297 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent
16804 - Catalyst System; Bank 1: Efficiency Below Threshold
P0420 - 35-00 - -
16395 - Bank 1: Camshaft A (Intake): Retard Setpoint not Reached (Over-Advanced)
P0011 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

ignore the top one as i have removed the 249 valve and deleted it so it comes up.

after getting these faults i found that i would check various different things to rule them out. first i checked for boost leaks. found there were some round the dump valve and vacuum pipes. so changed all the vacuum pipes and new dump valve was installed and N75 valve. change all the hoses and found these faults still came up. I even did a smoke test on the pipes and found that there was no smoke escaping out the hoses ? lol

the second fault the cat i checked the sports cat and put the decat i had in and the same fault occured so its weird was thinking lambda sensor but didnt want to buy incase it wasnt.

the third fault hasnt came up yet and just appeared other day so could be linked with how its running.

im starting to come to a tether end with this i have looked at all sorts of things but just dont know where to go from here. dump valve is ok tried a new standard and my bailey and same fault. checked for leaks with smoke machine nothing.

any suggestions would be much appreciated as i know this car has potential and am not giving up with it lol

thanks

J

I wouldnt worry about cat bank 1 below threshold as i think this is post cat and will throw a code with your decat or race cat.
If i were you i would take it to a reputable tuner to be mapped with new hybrid turbo

i understand what you are saying but when the car comes up saying there is a pressure drop what could this mean ? and why is the car sometimes going to limp mode. these are the things that are confusing me about the whole ordeal. there must be something that is causing that to happen

Is it over boosting with hybrid running on standard map, also you mentioned it had downpipe and fmic all of which is stage 2 stuff, with hybrid and downpipe id say standard map is not suitable.
Im not an expert mate so id say youve got all the gear for stage 2 so id get it to someone for the map to go with it all, could be something as simple as over boost/fueling issue causing limp mode.
Is there a reason why you are still running standard map with the mods youve done. Is hybrid producing more boost than standard map/ecu is expecting.

The code check dv usually relates to a failed dv or boost leak via the pipework but its often a red herring.

As said get it to a decent tuner and get everything checked and make sure the maps set up right. Ecu will throw limp mode to protect the engine, Bank 1 could mean its not fueling right which is bad if its running high power.

the reason i havent mapped it yet is beacuse of the problems that have came up, it limiting boost etc was the reason i didnt get it mapped was wanting to sort the problems first before mapping. i have found things along the way but in regards to boost leaks i cant find any so weird lol
