This problem started only a couple of days after getting the car. Basically between about 2-3000rpm I am losing boost pressure as you can hear it gushing out from somewhere, above this it is not quite so noticeable. I thought it was one of the intercooler hoses so I got a second hand set which I fitted today and sadly the problem is still there. I also took the recirculating valve off and this is in good working order and I checked just about everything else I can see and found nothing.

I ran a vag-com on it and the only code that came up was excessive engine speed exceeded (Warranty void) or something like that. So now I have next to nothing to go on as to what to check next. Any advise guys or people who have had the same problem?

Guess I need to get right behind and take a better look at the turbo ect. Not sure how old it is as I have no paperwork for the chip and the valve. It doesnt look that old to be fair though

I am starting the think one of the intercoolers has a split in it, wont have a chance to take a proper look at anything till the weekend so I am guessing its bumper off and headlights out to remove both of these? Not sure if the intake pipe had an issue it would make the same noise. Noise if more like forced air escaping rather then sucking air in

Finally after a couple of weeks of either crap weather or me being busy at work I have the time at work today to have a better look. So far I have checked the DV and this is working as normal. Checked the air intake as far as the turbo and all looks fine though there is a trace of old dirty oil from the hose that comes out of this into the DV. I have now taken the red flexi pipe off the turbo to check and so far found nothing.

Not really sure where to check next think its going to have to be a case of bumper off and intercoolers out unless anyone else has a few ideas???

Just ran a diagnostic on it and this code P1296 came up. I dont have the vagcom with me just a normal reader but this didnt come up with the vagcom the other week!

Just doing a quick search on here and its something in the coolant system possibly the cts??? If it is something in the coolant system that would make some sense to me as the temp gauge is not always at 90. I cant see it being related to the actual problem though but maybe some of the more techy guys know?

CTS changed and fixed the temp gauge issue but still have the same boost problem. Vag-com no shows no codes but being as the Mrs has stolen my car its been near 2 week since I have had a proper chance to drive it

I still think there must be a crack in one of the intercoolers so looks like a trip to badger5 for a smoke test is on the cards unless anyone else has any other ideas

Get the bumper off and check all your boost pipes. If you can hear air escaping then there must be a split hose of a hose off somewhere.
Make sure all jubilee clips are tight as well cause i had a similar noise once which turned out that the jubilee clip that held the red turbo pipe to the turbo had loosened itself and needed replacing.

I have replaced all the intercooler hoses apart from the tiny one behind the passenger headlight area. All clips including the ones on that red turbo pipe seem good and tight though that red pipe is a pain in the arse to get to!

Not sure I would spot a crack or hole in the intercooler so think a smoke test is my next option.
