Just spec'd up an Ibiza Cupra Bocanegra, out of curiosity more than anything, on the Seat Configurator, adding only the racing brakes as an option, and it came out at £18,420.

Now, is it just me, or does that seem a very high price for a 1.4, even if it does look pretty cool and has 180hp? Considering that it's in the region of the price of the mk1 LCRs when they were new, can this price be real? Is that inflation speaking, or is this car actually comparable to the LCR?

Yeah, that's what the wife said. She likes Ibizas, but reckons there's no hope of getting the pushchair in one so she's sticking with her Leon

When I first saw the pics of the Boc it was all I wanted! But with it only being a 1.4 pushing 180hp it put me off as well as the rediculous premium for it - once you add on a few more options it really pushes the pennies for what it is. For a couple more grand you can have a brand new Leon Cupra - bigger car, more power and more toys for your money! [B)] or save some money and go for the MKI LC or even LCR!

Agreed. I think it's a great looking car and all that power in such a small package must be fun, but it's just too expensive for what it is IMHO

compared to the likes of the corsa vxr its not that expensive. And you only need to look at the price of the new lcr to see how prices have risen. I think the issue is to many models. There has to be a price difference between the fr, cupra and boca.

Agreed. £18k just seems like a lot of money for an Ibiza. I'd really like to try one to see whether it's worth it or not. There are a lot of other good cars that you can pick up for that price

Bit off topic but,

1) Here in Finland dealers haven't said anything about Bocas being limited edition.

2) Here in Finland Boca is just a plastic kit that you can have in FR and CUPRA.

3) List prices for Fr: 24 058€, Cupra: 26 922€, Bocanegra pack for fr and cupra: 1 139€.

Comparing your prices to ours, well you know....see for your self

Yeah all it is, is few trim bits, black mouth, dark alloys and dark headlights.

28,131Euro for the boc cupra works out around £25,293!! Thats crazy!

I have a boc coming and to be honest I have no problem paying the price as I have even specced it up and will be paying around 19K. A specced up LCR comes in at around 23K. I just can't pay the extra on it and wont settle for a standard on. The extras are what makes the car special to each individual. So i think alot of the price comes down to a persons individual taste and preference. I personally can't wait till mine finally arrives and as soon as I can afford it will be getting the map done. Might look for the guys in Germany that done it to 220BHP with 300+Nm!!!! Not too far of the LCR if I am not mistaken and still below the price of one. I also just prefer the small hatch backs and whilst the LCR is a wonderfull car and I absolutely loved the test drive my personal preference falls to the BOCA.

Yup got one on the way. Pablo over in spain should be working on it any day now :)

I agree about personalizing the car. Mine is just shy off 18k (with a nice discount) I also specked mine up with race brakes, convenience pack, xenons and tomtom cradle. With the other toys that come on the car i'd say its a pretty high spec for the price. In fact I cant think of any other brand new cars with that many toys for the price.

I've always had hatchbacks. I just prefer smaller cars. Since this one is lighter than my current cupra (200BHP) should think they'll be fairly similar performance wise although the larger rev range of the petrol will be a welcome change over my current diesel.

Myself, I'd want the racing brakes, purely because I have the Brembos on the LCR now, and can't fathom putting twin-pots on 'performance' cars. The convenience pack looks good too, and I'd want the bluetooth functionality too. The local garage has an FR that I can go test drive on my own (ie they don't send a salesman with you) but I can't decide whether it's worth swapping the LCR out for an Ibiza. I like larger cars too, but the Boca looks (and sounds) really smart

i think the one thing letting the bocanegra down or the cupra and fr is the lack of a manuel gearbox if they come with a real manuel box and a clutch pedal they would be a great car i just think the lack of a clutch pedal really lets it down and the flappy padels dont do it for me.

The DSG is something you should try before writing it off. Its a very nice system.

The manual would bring the price down and allow for more power due to the clutch BUT if you put a manual cupra against a DSG cupra both with the same power the DSG would be faster. Due to the ratio's and the sheer speed in which it changes gears.

Personally I'd be up for DSG. I've not heard anything bad about it, and I'm sure it'd mean a longer life for the clutch and gearbox than if I was manually changing gears. Also, the clutch in the DSG is more like a bike clutch (albeit with two of them) and it's a design that is smoother IMHO than a conventional clutch
