Hi all,

those of you that have replaced your OEM clutches with the TDi ones, were there any issues when fitting, and how are they holding up after a few hundred miles of driving?

mine is slipping now so looking at this as a replacement.

thanks :D

I fitted mine with a new oem DMf

The Euro one listed is the one fitted to my car, can't remember how much higher the lb/ft figure is but IIRC it somewhere about 20-30lb/ft higher!

Sachs and luk will not give out torque ratings on thier stock clutches unfortunately.
JBS do a kit for £425 - southbend.

^ thats what i discovered when replacing my clutch with the standard LUX one for my LCR.

what would u say the ratings are, up to 300??

but then again, i suppose it all depends on how you applying the beans
lower down in the revs, causing more strain on the clutch etc etc etc etc etc

Yeah the bhp is fairly irrelevant for a clutch is all about the torque, they probably don't want to commit themselves. I had a look at the southbend kit and there are a lot of mixed reviews.

For where I wanted to take the car i.e. Stage 1 1/2 :), the tdi sounded ideal, the garage that installed it said they had the lcr and tdi clutch side by side and the tdi looked a lot more capable!

mine is around the 290 lbs-ft torque so should be ok i dont plan on going any higher and i dont ever launch the car hard.

Im not paying out almost £1k for an uprated clutch and fly combo when then stock item is fine. Its just plain silly for day to day driving.

I've been wanting to look into this as well, bit strapped for time at the mo. I'm at 318lb/ft (431NM) and the clutch slips when on the track (I guess its because of the temperatures it runs at). SMF conversion seems to be about the £1k mark without fitting, wouldn't mind having that but a DMF with a better clutch would be a compromise at the moment.

So are we saying Sach or LUK for a decent compromise of cost vs. quality?

im going for the TDi 150 LUK clutch i think, for £170 its worth a try.

Just cant justify £1k on the car on 2 items this close to Christmas :(

For what i use the car for i dont see why it will be a problem :D

clutch

Did you go for deisel clutch? if so how is it goin?
Cheers
