For the past two years, my LCR has supped now't but Shell V-Power (99RON).

However, because there's a paucity of Shell stations in my local area - nearest is 23 miles - I've had to resort to Sainsbury's Super Unleaded (97RON).

Curiously, two tanks later, there's no change in performance and I get an extra 3mpg on a long run. (In the past, when I swapped from 97RON to 95RON the performance drop-off was marked and immediate.)

And Sainsbury's brew is 8p/litre less.

Any thoughts?

Ta :)

Mines exactly the same with tesco's super. I tried Vpower/Texaco/Tesco's each month and tesco's came up on top each week witth an extra 15-40miles per tank!

I moved from V-power/shell just down the road from me to Sainsburys or Tescos, depending where i am.

Bar the price it seems seems comparable in all aspects.

lol its when you put your card in the machine and type your pin number in....cant do that at shell, i have to fill up/withdraw the money/make people wait/pay in cash/then leave with a non smug look to the guy sitting behind my car with a very red angry face, that i am making late for the pub!!!!

I got frauded, and a few friends did at the very same shell garage. I sometimes use it but CASH ONLY, which equals the above time wasting measures.....so TESCO ftw

so is that norm unleaded or momentum.. mine loves momentum but hates my pocket lol

Tesco Momentum always. Shell V-Power is the same but about 5p a litre more round here and as we all know petrol is like liquid gold for price anyways. Robbing gets!

Another vote for tesco momentum super dooper unleaded petrol cars always ran on it and is mapped for that ron fuel, excellent performance and mpg.

well I did the comparison test and Tesco made it feel less powerful and to cap it all, I got less MPG, somewhere between 20 miles less to the tank, filled up with vpower and it feels much better. usually get 200 miles to £40, the momentum stuff even though its cheaper only managed 178 miles. Viva la Vpower
