Hi,

I'm currently in the process of looking for LCRs in the region of 13k (max). I'm interested to know how the release of the new Leon Cupra is likely to affect the second hand prices of the old LCR. I want to get the best deal possible (03 reg +, <20,000miles).

What are your opinions?

Will the second hand price of the LCR fall dramatically once the new Leon Cupra is release? If so, by how much?

Thanks
Alex

It won't fall dramatically but the release of the new Cupra certainly won't do anything to boost the LCRs residual values.

The new Leon has hardly affected the residual values of the old range at all. My guessing is that its because the new car is so radically different to the old. Its not like the new Focus vs old Focus as these cars are quite similar and appeal to broadly the same audience.

on second thought, how bad can a car lose its value.
i mean, its not as bad as the vauxhauls rovers and fords,
i think its worth a good gamble.
the LCR shares bits with the legendary AUDI TT and AUDI A3 and GOLF GTi T.
its not like LCR's (your 03 LCR) will be selling for £5k in two years time.
these cars have special bits on them hence its will always be a special car.
in other words, BUY IT.

Theres nothing to say that the new cupra will be a good car yet, only time will tell . Plus when it's launched it's going to cost around £5k more than what the current newest LCR can be bought for.
The LCR's did take a price dive when Seat started selling new ones at £15.5k but now there all gone second hand ones are on dealer forecourts for more than that!!

So I wouldn't expect prices to be affected by anything other than age IMHO, I don't think you'll care once you've had a test drive;)

I've had my LCR for two weeks now. (and suitably chuffed with the performace :D )

Paid 12k for an 04 reg Black 29k miles, but in all very good condition for the mileage especially. Decided to go private as the dealers prices were 2k more and the two cars are saw were in shockingly bad condition.

My advice would be go private, spend as much as you can, and be willing to travel, there aren't many about.

Ditto that, you will get a much, much better deal, and for the price you are looking at, you will still have a decent amount of manufacturer warranty left too. If you're still unsure about going private, then enlist the help of a AA/RAC man to check it out.

There is no way I would have got mine for the price I paid at a garage, but I did have to travel 200 miles to get it !!
