Hey there... Just wanted to put my mind at rest. Is it normal once you change from the stock DMF to an upgraded SMF (SPEC Steel) to have that extra revving from the engine when changing gears, usually over the 2000 RPM Mark? As i don't know if to live with it or bang my head somewhere because of it :)

Jus the revs go up quiker mate. I dont think its any different in driving apart from the revs rising quiker, i think its actually better to drive as its more effortless. Iv jus recieved my smf from southbend and waitin for it to be fitted

Sori mate. Read the question wrong kind ov. The revs will go up quiker as the smf is alot lighter than the dmf

thanks buddy for your help! to be honest it does rev up better and acceleration can be felt beautifully now considering it is completely standard :) it is just a bit irritating when changing gears for that moment as it goes up say a hundred revs from release of gear... but according to my mates it is quite normal for a lightened flywheel to have that effect... maybe you can confirm once yours is fitted :)

no not exactly to be honest (if i understood the question well :)), apart from the usual clatter noise on idle with the clutch paddle not pressed. first ti though i had a split or loose air hose however i found none :(

Unfortunately it seems to be something quite common when replacing a DMF with a SMF even if it is a normal conversion kit... to be honest it is quite frustrating at first but i sort of got used to it and in the end you get pretty much good results :) BTW nice looking LCR you got there simple yet wild :)

Thats wAt mine new 1 is ( not fitted yet ) do u no how heavy it is and can u tell the difference in how quik the revs go up?

Not sure how heavy it is mate it's alot lighter than a dmf tho and can't really tell tbh but when I fitted mine I didn't drive it for over 2 months so hard to tell

Yeah, i really need to hear one really, thanks for the comments but she's a Cupra Not an "R". ;)

Mine is abt 18lbs if i recall correctly... and a SPEC one. To be honest i went for a SPEC one again cause i already had one on a golf mk3 with a 1.8T conversion and i must admit the difference can be well felt! And as quoted before by dan it's the way to go if you have power :) I know you can find lighter ones but with that weight you can already feel the difference! Sorry about that hehe i'm still trying to get familiar with all the types of Leons as here in Malta they are VERY VERY RARE :)

Mine is 18lbs and mine is a southbend smf, same a spec i think. Well iv jus found out that the oem dmf is......35lbs! :-0
