Hey guys.
I'm more of a lurker on this forum but in need of some help after experiencing some running issues on Sunday.
The car had occasionally thrown up the EPC light which caused it to idle at 1200rpm but other than that, no other obvious fault.
On Sunday I did a track day and the car seemed to perform very well until the way home when the EPC light came on, causing the car to chug and occasionally backfire - doing 50mph in lane 1 all the way home. The engine light did show its ugly face a few times which was worrying, then 5 times it completely cut out as I was driving - on the motorway that's a bit sketchy!!
So I plugged it in yesterday to a friends V-checker system which shows 4 fault codes..
1) malfunction in cooling system - 07704.p1296 (G62)
this is either the temp sensor or thermostat - or both! easy enough to change and most likely the cause of a fluctuating temp gauge than causing the running problem I've got.
2) ignition/distributor engine speed input circuit - 16706.p0322 (G28)
this is obviously the engine speed sensor which again shouldn't be too hard to sort.
3) camshaft position (bank 1) timing over advanced - 16395.p0011 (N205)
camshaft adjustment valve (which I believe is a sensor) or fuel pump relay could be the cause
4) suggested fault is the same sensor as point 2 above - G28.
This next bit is the advice I'm after.....
Now I'm tempted to use genuine parts but from Seat, they come to £242 + VAT!
If I use non genuine from GSF I'm looking at spending less than half of that but I don't want any issues/the car to reject non genuine parts..
Anyone had these issues before? Did you use non-gen parts to fix it and if so did you get any issues after?
Thanks in advance,
Rich
