The snow was fun this morning, only problem was that it was so deep my front splitter was acting like a snow plough, the guys behind were loving it. I found people following me along our country lanes!! I'll charge for the service tomorrow!

Also, bad driving conditions make it glaringly obvious that soooo many people dont have a clue how to drive! I think everyone with a licence should be made to go on a skid pad / adverse conditions driving course. The news reports in the morning should be more specific and say, " if you are a complete moron with no idea of what to do in the snow and ice, go out and you will write off your car or alternately ruin someone elses day!!"

Mini rant over!

agree with the last part, couldn't see sod all distance wise, yet people still had no headlights on, sidelights were hidden behind snow the lazy tykes couldn't be bothered to clear from any windows

Bit like the **** head this morning in the Saab on the M3. He hadn't cleared his rear screen or wing mirrors so did his best to kill me as I was overtaking him. I sounded my horn but got the old ****** sign. WTF....

The roads go to pot don't they - there seem to be 3 distinct groups. The normal people that get on with their journey, slower than usual, leaving more of a gap, etc etc.

Then there are the people too frightened to move and go along main gritted and just wet roads at 15mph, or the nobs who insist on still driving everywhere flat out, wheel spinning across lanes of traffic and braking at the last second while they slide towards you inches away from an impact. With their f***ing fog lights on.

It amazes me to be honest. I spent a bit of time in Finland a few years back and they have proper snow in proper amounts. Literally a few feet of it each night. But nothing changes... the buses still run, planes still fly, trains operate on time and cars drive around normally. It's just like every day life... just colder and whiter.

In this country we get a few inches of snow over a couple of weeks and planes are grounded, trains stop, people start stocking up on bread and toilet paper and drivers panic and turn into morons on the road.

It's madness.

yeah but finland has it regular, we hardly have it like we used to in the 80's do we.

I mean i remember when the farmers used to put up drift fencing in the winter. Now we don't get much.

i remember i think it was 87 or 88 when we cut for a week and had about 3 foot of the stuff, the back garden was impassable as it came up to your waste. madness.

Where as now out old and overused infrastructure ( which is the crux of it ) has to deall with -10 conditions all the way to 35c . so they do their best

I know we don't get in anywhere near as regularly as Finland... but they have the same variety of temperatures to deal with. Summer there is hot! It's stunning weather in summer. But then a few months later in winter you can see people going to work on Ski's

That was the weirdest thing actually... looking out of the window one morning to see somebody go past on a set of Ski's being overtaken by somebody on a snowmobile!

agree we act like we cant handle any weather conditions at all, when its summer its to hot, when it rains it floods and we still have hose pipe bans, when it snows everything shuts down, when its cold its bloody freezing never just right

Its a joke when its snows just a few inches. I spent a few months in Utah and we got almost 40inches in 24hours and everying just carries on as normal:lol:

I know what you mean - got to work and it looked like I'd mowed down a snowman, half expected to see a carrot wedged in there too!

We didnt get any snow..gutted! was looking forward to abit of fun in the snow.

Esp as we have snow tyres fitted for the winter months... and when it does snow we dont get it!

is it me or in any weather; middle lane hogs are the most dangerous driver on the roads/motorways....

rant over lol

exactly ;) and then theyre the ones who swerve after trying to pullout whilst looking and putting on indicators, instead of indicate look move lol IDIOTS!

Ahh the annual bit of rain\snow\wind\sun Fks the entire transport system. Come on people we're only one of the oldest "developed" countries in the world, which actually ran 2/3rds of it at one point. Why would we be able to hanndle a bit of change of weather....

Reading this makes me laugh with frustration.

The sad thing is there is little blame on the people trying to help the situation, highways agency, councils and such like, they are all working hard to predict and prepare for the weather. But the f*ck up is the histeria created by a bit of snow and the pathetic response of our general public! Its cringe worthy watching normal people turning into utter morons.

Flip side is it makes you feel so competant and skillful in comparison!!

I know what you mean awelch, people do over-react. But it's not helped when on the TV you have 'severe weather warnings' forecasting an inch of snow, trains being stopped, airports closed, schools shut (don't mind that one though as I work in a school).

One day someone, somewhere is going to have a brain fart and say 'Hold on! This happens every year, why don't we prepare for it next year....?'
