Im after a window tint on my black LCR.

Does anyone have any idea on what grade of tint to go for... i dont want the full limo black but something dark enough to look good... Does that make sense?

Any pics of LCRs with a window tint would be wicked.

Have done a fair bit of searching but cant find anything..

Thanks

i cant help in your choice, but so that you can make an 'informed choice' you should be aware that any extra tinting to the windscreen or two front windows would be illegal.
There is a maximum amount of tint allowed by law, (measured by amount of light allowed through the window). Most traffic cops carry equipment to check this.

The windscreen must allow 75% of light through, the front side windows 70%.

The standard tints are fairly close to the legal limit, some till say you can tint a bit ok, but if you can it would be a very small amount.

You can however tint the rear side and rear window to your hearts content.

yeah they should show a percentage in the bottom corner as stated, mine are 3% but they do vary as i know a lad with factory fit 5%, as stated i think 10% is actually the limit on front, it isn't dark at all, I personally think though that 10% front and 15% rear would give a nice look on a black car, classy and not OTT

Ive recently got 20% tint all round,(lets in 20% light, not 20% tint) think its one under limo or close enough,

and i think it is great, looks good in the day and night, and you cant see in at all, i also have a big visor on the front i will get some pictures up tonight.

If i get pulled , Then its "i bought it like this..."

I have about 20% tint which should let in around 80% light, I've had dark tints before and its not worth the hassle - as when the traffic cops get hold of you (volvo T5, T6 cars) and they have the "tinman" module to check your windows then it trousers down and bend over time..........

Not going through all that drama again!!

I dont think the police would care how you bought it. they will just tell you to remove or rectify the problem then will check afterwards

As long as i dont get fined, i dont care if they take the tints off, il be more than happy, i would have got my use out of them, then il have nothing like everyone else, but at least i would have tints for a while

its not much hassle, just get the little paper stamped at a M.O.T station and send it to them

The police either impound the car or you remove them there and then, i know, i have had my fronts removed on my last car, the traffic cop even helped me remove one side, as i did the other.

Thats why you say you bought it like that, and then let them take them off or you take them off infront of them, not much hassle, better than not havin tints at all IMO

i got mt platinum grey LCR tinted the other week and it makes the car look so much better, i didnt get them too dark the front side windows have a 50% tint the rear side windows have 30% (30% of light in) and the rear window is 20%, it looks perfect not to dark and you can just about see in through the front but enough so that it dosnt atract police attention (police pulled me over the same day i got them but didnt mention the tints).
to be honest if you get your back windows darker it makes the front seem darker but when you open the door and look at the glass you can hardly tell it tinted

all depends of the officer, i've only been warned once & that was on my nova, but most of my cars have had tints, & never got done etc. BUT i have heard it's points now, or a fine, either way depending on the police they may just rip them off or juast warn you.

i'm having mine done soon, going for 70% tinted all round with sunstrip too

how hard a job is it to do yourself?

tinting or removing? tinting is supossed to be hard but the main thing is to make sure the window is perfectly clean and that no dust blows onto the film/window. if it was me i'd take the window out and do it inside

edit: i second the leave it to the pro's, usually looks gash when its done by a non pro
