Leak in passenegr footwell - Humph

I'm sure mine had some kind of foam / sponge seal around the lip - it was quite a nice snug fit, however it's possible yours sn't sat on the hole properly. Each time it rains, the water fills up and spills over the edge into the car.

The foam is there just wet and spongy making a squelch sound when pressed down, thing is I have never had a leak in this area at all since owning the car, only thing is that the car has been jacked up to have the wheels changed yesterday, unless that has moved something out of line?

If its under warantee, perhaps it best then. Its a common enough problem so hopefully they'll find it.

Hopefully, without taking the bloody dash out and creating more squeaks

OK totaly confused now, got home from work and the weather has cleared up here so left it intil about an hour and half ago, before I took it apart again I thought I would give it a good soaking, so ran the hose on low over the windscreen, in the corner, into the gaps in the sills, door slats, even put the hose head down inside the corner of the screen so that full water flow was going into the corner where the drain hole is and then ran it all along the vents at the bottom of the windscreen and no water came in, so left it running for a while and still no leak??? so parked it on the drive so it was sloping uphill and downhill and soaked it again and still no leak. Did the same as above but with the hose on full and again no water came in.
So attached the hose to the Karcher Pressure washer and again blasted it all over the windscreen causing a flood to come down as I did with the hose, fired it into the gaps between the sills and close range all along the bottom of the windscreen and plastic bulkhead cover, still no trickle of water??? next thing I did was actually stcik the hose head into the corner hole with the bonnet shut and turn the hose on full power, this literally flooded the bulkhead in the corner and water was flooding out underneath the car and through the drain holes, but still no water coming in???
Then one last try I attached the jet wash again and put the end of the jetwash in the corner of the bonnet at point blank range and fired it for ages again flooding the corner and did this all along the bulkhead plastic cover filling it at quite a rate and still no water leaking in, so looks like the leak has gone?

Thing is after taking out the pollen filter cover, seal, filter and putting them all back in again (twice) earlier today a trickle of water still came in after I wiped the area in the pic dry and they fired my windscreen washers constantly for about 40 seconds, I then waited and after 10 seconds the water trickled in.

Only things I can think of is that the drain hole was blocked and it unblocked on the drive home (was dry the whole journey) as I had a leak like this on my S3 drivers side, but the drain hole and whole corner was full of leaves so 100% blocked, it didn't look like the drain hole was blocked on the Leon at all but might have been?

Only time will tell I guess, not gonna cancel the booking with Seat unless it pours with rain all weekend and no sign of a leak (might even run it through a car wash just to give it one last soaking) if it still does not leak I am off on Monday anyway so may just let them have it in the afternoon and see if they can water test it and make it leak.

Indeed way cool, I am just the kind of chap who needs a solid reason as to why the leak has gone, will not be 100% convined until after a good downpoor and a car wash

Cheers fella hope so as I really do love this car, but it's been getting me down lately, one thing after an other.

Fingers crossed though the leak is sorted and I am having new front pads fitted at JP Board Monday morning, so hopefully that will sort my squeaky front brakes as well.

Plus I don't see how I didn't try everyway of getting water to seep in again, drip fed, sprinkle, full flow, blast, Karcher'd etc.

There is a hidden lip under that pollen filter, wonder if your drain plug idea was right

With the squeeky breaks thing.... Have you tried swapping the 2 front discs around so they run the opposite way? (Assuming its the fronts making the noise). That worked with a collegues motor a while back....Oh and loads of copper grease where they bolt to the hub.

New pads should do it. I think they just get compressed and glazed over sometimes. New ones should help!!

That's what i was thinking, maybe you've cleared something blocking a drain hole so now the water can't pool up and spill over the lip into the car?

I really hope that you have fixed it, if not I think you will find it is a leaking weald in the front baulkhead.

Mine could sit in the rain all day, everyday, but when it was driven in the rain, the water was pressed against the baulkhead, and would come in. The water trickled down the vertical plastic as shown in your original picture.

If it continues, you can remove the glovebox and then see where the rain is coming in, I drove around like that for 2 weeks waiting for the rain.

The fix from the SEAT dealer was to take off the front wing and coat the baulkhead in black sealent.

Having a leaky leon really pisses you off, I find i rather ironic my new SAAB 9-3 convertable co. car is bone dry, yet a tin top leon leaked like mad.

I have driven it in the rain today as well (pissing down) also through a large flood left hand side no leak...
Hopefully it is not a weld seal, also the weather was dry when I origionally parked the first night, it rained through the night when staionary and the water trickled in, it hasn't done since and I have blasted it with a karcher pressure water at point blank range all along the bulkhead with the car on various slopes and positions and still no leak.

As said only time and a car wash will tell

i had the door cards of my back doors sealed up by my friendly VW specialist (there must have been a pint of water inside the rear passenger door!!) but now the front doors seem to be leaking.

Basically now that I'd had the back doors done, I was feeling cocky and parked my car facing uphill with the passenger side leaning down to the left. I then got into the car when it was p*ssing down and noticed water running over the drivers' door sill inside the car, and running into the back footwells. I have since parked facing downhill with the drivers side leaning downwards with the camber on my terraced street. Have been sponging out the footwells for over a week now.

Leon is booked in with friendly VW man for 12th June. Hopefully this should sort the problem.

What is it with leaky Leons?! Do Seat use inferior parts compared to VW or something?! (or do Mk4 Golfs also leak like this!)

When I was at JP Board yesterday for new front pads I spoke with the chap about my leak and he said that "the pollen filter housing was not a "crap" design as I put it, but just needs to be put back correctly which he admitted most Techs do not do" he also explained the way the drain holes work, he said "just because I could not see the top oval hole was blocked he said it runs right down to the bottom of the chassis so could be blocked at any point during the way down" he also said that "a dodgy bulkhead weld would be a 1 in a million chance as all the cars are spot welded by robots so that would be very rare in deed.
Top bloke and didn't mind spending some time talking to me about stuff.

Interesting bloke then! Its nice talking to people who talk sence as there are a lot of people out there who like to tell you how good they and there company is - BORING!.. And don'e really give you an idea of their actual knowledge.

Breaks are fine so far (see my other thread) well happy with the quality of work done by JP Board, wouldn't have even known the car had been worked on other than the drivers seat cover

Final update on this, had pleanty of rain the last few weeks and took the car through an IMO car wash today and dare i say it still no leaks

So looks like it must have been a blocked drain hole after all
