Leaking Boost Pipe

Car was in for a service over the weekend. One of the advisories was that the boost pipe was leaking. Unfortunately I was in a rush and didn't have a chance to inspect it fully.

From what I have read on the forum so far there are 2 parts to the boost pipe the upper part and the lower (90 degree bend) is this right?


Any potential causes for the leak? I am assuming a worn seal/o-ring rather than the issue other people face of the boost pipe coming off


However if I do need to replace it which is the better route to go down & is there a big cost difference OEM, forge & SFS?

The connectors are bobbins so it's probably that causing the trouble, you can either get a new OEM pipe, get a full kit like Forge or buy the individual bits off eBay and make one up (usually the cheapest option).

You'll have to figure out which pipe is leaking, theres several pipes and connectors so it could leak from any of them.

The two most common ones are the upper and lower intercooler pipes, so start looking there.
Usually not too hard to find the culprit, they piss oil out when they leak so the problem join will be wet.

Assuming this will also require front bumper removal or is there an easier alternative as the PD130 isnt exactly roomy in the engine bay?

On my pd130 it was the pipe going down behind the offside headlamp. Just stick your hand down and feel for oil.

Guide not really but it's easy! Open bonnet unfasten 4 bolts on top of bumper with a socket set. Get under car unscrew under tray 6-10 screws. Then star shake socket set in both wheel arches then under centre of car oh and 2 on either side of centre lower grill, bumper off and everything will then be in plain sight, most common areas that leak is the bottom pipe of intercooler and very top next to egr valve this is mainly due to the poor design of the VW/seat
Couplers that grid down and get worn.

Had a quick look at the links, looks very good. Haven't had a chance to investigate the issue but plan on doing so this weekend & will see what needs replacing/changing.

Trying not to spend too much on it at the moment, things are a little tight so just need to make sure it's it running order rather than upgrades.
