Leaking door seal

Help I've recently replaced the whole regulator system on the drivers side door I didn't seal it at the time as I didn't know I had to !!!! Now with the heavy rain yes you all probably guessed I've got a serious leakage in the rear passenger well now would this be because of me not sealing the regulator and if so where can I get this butyl rope sealant from ? I've also noticed the water collecting on the sill ? So is this defo the cause of the water in the back ?

I used black roofing sealant went I did mine back in 2006

Yeah just found it mate cheers seems quiet a problem I did try and seal it today in the father in laws garage with normal silicone but due to lack of space don't think it sealed very well as gone out to it tonight and loads of water pissed out which had built up on the door sill hope this shitty does one so I can sort it

No problems. I'm looking to get another mk1 and this will be in my list.

Out if then 3 mk1 Leon's I've had, only 1 had leaky seals and even then it was only the n/s/r door

Gutted I didn't think to seal it when we put it on we were thinking of doing it but cause it had a bit of a foam seal on it thought it would be alright take it the old seal needs to come off ?

The butyl rope stuff is brilliant, really sticky when it gets warm though so stick it in the fridge till you're ready to use it

Nice one mate is it right that it doesn't set ? So it's easy if you need to take it off again ?

I'd assume so, not had to take the carrier back off the car again since its sealed perfectly lol.

As long as you take your time to remove the damaged foam seal, this is the most important bit.

Hmmm think that's why mine might be still leaking I didn't remove the old seal

Nice one mate is it right that it doesn't set ? So it's easy if you need to take it off again ?

You're right that it doesn't set, but considering how sticky it was going on I'm not looking forward to having to fix mine soon.

If I did need to get in the door, I'd replace the sealant anyway. You could probably roll it back into a suitably squishy line, but it's easier to just replace it.

Hopefully my stuff will come tomorrow so I can get it sorted
