What are the best rear led number plate lights/bulbs? Is it better to buy the whole light unit or just the bulb?

And which would you recommend??

Thanks

They need to at least be canbus error free bulbs.
Lots of people have tried various types, seem to get varying results depending on year of car even with the exact same model bulbs.
Newer Leons seem more sensitive to throwing dash errors than older ones.
Some people fit their own resistors to leds, some come with, some folks have wired them into the existing bulbs and then pushed them up inside the bumper.

I got all that info from a quick search on here.
This thread covers more the detail ive summarised:

I have some Samsung ones which are the best I've had out of the 3 pairs I've bought, however the previous 2 sets of bulbs (non Samsung) all created errors after about 6 months even though they said they were canbus error free.

I think they look tacky but to each their own ;) they stand out way too much. IMO there should be no white light coming from the back of a vehicle... standard are just fine IMO.

the ones i put in my 2012 fr have been in for a fortnight and no errors. theres a link on my thread mod advice that daniel provided from ebay. there just golf leds with a resistor, plug and play no hassle no worries

...which are screwed in

I yeah i thought that, the standard lense screws out so you can change the lamp, but if you look for the tab with a small slotted screw driver the just unclip.

Plug your new ones in ( eBay add above ) push em back into place job done, mine been ok since fitting 2-3 month ago:D

Lajonz, I'm in Low Fell as I write. If you see a white fr+ give us a wave - then let me have a look at these plate lights in the flesh haha

Like lajohnz said, it's just the lense that screws in. The entire unit fits with two locator lugs on one side and a plastics clip on the other just the same as the OE ones.
