I went on a good drive on Sunday. Took the folks out for Sunday lunch.
Averaged 45mpg on the M60/M56 well impressed!

Thanks again for all the help chaps. Been fiddling and everything works as it should.

Going back into the dealer on Wednesday to sort the tracking out. It wants to go right with the steering wheel at 12 o'clock.
That's the only niggle now

If you keep the unlock button held down it winds the windows all the way down! Same goes for locking it they go up, this amazes 5 year olds and new car owners alike. Can i ask, do you have to click the main beams on to have the coming home function active??

No mate i haven't got the main beam on. I leave the headlight switch on 'auto'.

There is a setting in the mfd for headlight settings and you can adjust the length of time the headlights stay on for when you lock/unlock the car in 10 second steps.

I had my heart set on the red but because of waiting times decided on the black which i dont regret (yet)!!!

magnum lovely leon mate looks great in red.
just a quick question pal. im looking to upgrade early next year and im torn between the 1.4 tsi and the tdi 140 as both give similar mpg what is the boost like when the turbo kicks in?? is it a noticeble kick or is it smooth all the way through? also what is your average mpg so far?

Hi mate thanks for the positive comments.

My usual routine is a 12 mile round trip per day commute from home to work 5 days per week, Mon - Fri. So that's 60 miles per week to/from work and in heavy stop/start traffic per the mfd Im 'aaveraging' 33-34 mpg.

Took the olds out last weekend on a long motorway trip and averaged 45mpg. So i thing that's excellent mpg return for a petrol engine.

I've been loyal to ford for my car history and i traded in a 1.6 52 2002 plate focus for this Leon and the Leon is a rocket ship in comparison.
Its akin to my 1.7 vvc Puma i once owned in terms of a turn of pace.

In the past week I've left a fair few boy racers behind in the traffic light grand prix lol.

The surge of power is evident from low down in the rev range and is relentless up to about 5000rpm. And at £130 per year road tax and insurance group 6 its cheap as chips. Id challenge anyone to have as much fun for less for a 22 month old car.

Diesel......pah!!!!!!

Looks sweet as top job on the clean 2! Wot mods u bin lookin at magnum

Cheers mate.

Well I've just spent £115 on replacement speakers and autoleads speaker adaptors. So 1st on list is to upgrade the quality of tuneage lol.

Im thinking of contrasting the red paintwork with carbon fibre wrap to:

the front grill
scuttle panel
wing mirrors and
rear number plate panel.

Got my eye on some genuine seat accessories too

the chrome exhaust trim
the Kenwood audio/sat nav unit.

i want to keep it subtle. Don't want to end up looking like I've driven though halfords and got the entire contents of the ripspeed catalogue stuck to the car lol

cheers pal would be interesting to know how many miles you get from a full tank if your average mpg is low to mid 30s around town im assuming a full tank will give you close to 400 miles which is roughly about 50 miles less difference to a 2.0 diesel which for a turbo charged petrol engine is very good although my assumption of those figures are probably way off.
in my 1.8 20vt im getting roughly 320 out of a full tank and thats doing the same milage as yourself (60 miles a week) averaging 27 mpg.

Looked at the mfd again and it says 32mpg. So low 30's for city driving.

Think someone else mentioned they got something like 52mpg from their 1.4Tsi earlier on in the thread.

50mpg! That's nearly double what I get. It's hard to find a car with performance and economy and the tsi so far has ticked some boxes. If it's any comparison to the old 1.4 UNO turbo then I'm in as that was rapid althogh I think that had a much bigger turbo.

Haha that first one looks like export only! Got other priorities before kenwood im happy with the sound for now. Tips for motorways - aim not to brake. Obviously. Dont get up the arse of anyone look for brake lights 2 or 3 cars ahead, this is easier in a truck! Set yourself targets of not braking over the space of a couple of jcts. DONT use cruise control where u might be doing this. ABSOLUTLY NO BURSTS OF SPEED WHATSOEVER WHEN TRYING TO PLAY THE MPG GAME!!!! Plus, you dont always have to go at the max. Speed limit all the time, not sayin i do this..... Anyway im in no rush to get to work! My figures of 50s arnt from motorway driving.......

I should have just made a new thread for this. Try it i guarentee you see improvement straight away. Above all remember the one in CAPS

Thaks for the tips,

I went out earlier tonight before i read your post and did a full circuit of the M60 did a constant 62mph/100kph on cruise control and it averaged 47.2mpg. with a 1/4 tank of fuel in it.
No tailgating anyone, no bursts of speed, no sudden braking. was about 6:45pm ish, the traffic was really light too.

so not using cruise is better then, i'll try it again without cruise and see what i get.

cheers
