hey. new to the forum so might aswell start off by saying HI!

ive been ofered a 1.4 leon for £2000 but havent really read up much on what there like as untill now i havent really looked into geting one. so basically what are they like?

heres the offer i got on a different forum...

"Another Seat here.

But this time a Leon 1.4 95K.

etc etc.

£2000 Plus bike rack with 2 bike carriers."

i know its a bit vague so ive asked for more info and pics but what do you guys think? worth it?

as you can tell by the bike rack i got offered this on a bike forum and the bike rack could come in handy traveling to races and event so.

so yeah any advice welcome

cheers

Doesn't sound too badly priced then to be honest then.

Just double check everything, I had a 1.4 ibiza, bought at 40k, service and looked after it very well, but then when it got to around 80k stuff started to go a bit wrong with the engine. I may have just been unlucky, but in my experience I think petrols aren't the best at coping with hile miles! So just be aware of every noise the engine makes when taking it on a test drive.

The red is a really nice colour though when cleaned up nicely with the sun on it!

yeah well my cousine (sp?) and uncle are mechanics so ill take them with me to check it out and make sure that its not going to blow up in the next thousand miles or so :D

what are the engines like on these? fast slow? decent power or as soon as you have a bit of weight in the car it accelerates slow?

cheers

Some of the 1.4 leon owners will probably be able to give you some better advice on performance of it etc.

But from what I've heard it's not too bad. And yeah weight in the car will effect it's performance, as it would in even a 1.6 probably. But if it's just you in the car, I'm sure you'll get plenty of smiles out of it through the twisty stuff!

Should be pretty economical though which is good!

I had a 1.4 Leon a year ago. They are relatively cheap to run...should do about 35-40mpg. I got it before my cupra R, primarily because it's cheap to insure and better looking than most.
Performance wise it goes ok on the flats, but struggles a bit up hills and if it's full of people/luggage.
Overall I enjoyed owning it for the short time I did, and the only reason I moved on was because I wanted more power. Hence I got a bigger engined Leon.
Anything else you wanna know just ask. :)

Oxymoron

They're basic transport, but you will quickly get tired of it's lack lustre acceleration & fuel consumption doing it. They're cheap as chips though, and should go on for a long enough time.

rolly polly suspension, tiny brakes - a B road thrasher it is not.
