Leon 2.0 TDI Remap Advice

Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a leon ( dont know why it took me so long i love it!) and am interested in getting it remapped although ive heard that this can damage the emobiliser in the car and it may end up not starting at all and costing me a heap load more money to get fixed, is this true? Also ive seen that it can be done yourself if you have the correct maps and software? Would this be recommended and has anyone successfully done it?

Im sure this is asked all the time so Thanks for any help in advance!

Hi Eddie, there is no reason a remap will damage your immobiliser if done correctly. Yes, this can be done yourself, if you know what you were doing, but unless you have the

-correct knowledge, hardware/software to read the ECU,
-mechanical knowledge on how the engine works,
-mechanical knowledge on hardware limits of the different components (turbo's, clutches,injectors etc)
-the correct hardware/software to correct checksums in the modified software,
-Knowledge to find the maps and modify them in the correct manner
-Diagnostic software/hardware to log the car
etc etc

Its not worth it. Your car is worth a fair amount of money, and a lot of expensive damage can be done very easily. You'd be better off going to a reputable "pro" tuner and paying for someone elses research and development.

Completely agree with Bondiblu, who has posted a great deal of good info wherever I've come across his posts before. I think he probably knows more than I do.

It is most unlikely that a remap from a reputable professional will affect your immobiliser as it should not go anywhere near that part of the ecu.

Remapping is not a DIY exercise, for a shedload of reasons, which Bondiblu has summarised. If you're prepared to trash the car, then you could treat it as a way to learn about engine maps . . .

Hi Eddie,

I have also got a 2.0tdi, what age is yours if you don't mind me asking? It might be comforting for you to know maybe that if you decide to remap and you are careful with how you treat it and respect what has been done that an old timer like mine (2005 Stylance sport) which has been remapped at REVO daventry has caused me no problems at all. They did a great job, treat you well and are a very reputable.

Mine is stage one (software) and I'm so happy with it, even give my brother in his 06 ST a run for his money

just a qucik question about a month ago my DPF filter went so i had it removed and remapped they told me its now 220BHP is this right??

Hi scott, im glad to hear that! Makes me want to get it done more now! Lol, mine is the 06 stylance sport so pretty much the same as yours, what mind of increases did you see after the remap? Does it drink Alot more diesel?

All depends on your right foot as to whether you will use more diesel... But on Eco runs I get 50-55 motorway driving and 40-45 through town.. Heavy foot runs get it down to 32ish :-s but dont mind so much. Thing is before, the car was incredible on fuel which I'm sure you are probably experiencing??

Worth the remap though as revo said its on around 190 bhp from standard 140 with torque around the 280 foot pounds
