Leon aerial amplifier current requirements

Right time for my next install question.

Am I correct in saying that the current aerial amplifier (on Mk1 Leon) is powered from the Aura head unit electric aerial output

If it is my replacement head unit has a power output on this pin which can be used to power the aerial amp. This means I won't need to insert the powered Autoleads aerial adaptor in line with the aerial connection.

Also replacement head unit has max current limit of 200mA on the electric aerial output. Is this enough to power the amp ?

Sorry for the number of questions but fancy getting it right first time.

The aura powers the amplifier in the aerial internally. (ie in the headunit)

The autoleads psu thingy is 12v but I never managed to find out the current requirements for it. I have it plugged into my remote feed (300mA MAX) along with my infinity ref amp remote switch as well, and havent had any problems. It switches on and off with the HU that way.

Therefore by power of deduction "Aerial Booster + Amplifer(subs etc) < 300mA"

hehe.

Not too far away
Thats not how its connected!

The amp is powered by the actual aerial connector not from a pin on the ISO connector.

You need to cut the power antenna output from your new head unit as it will end up on the pin that VAG use for diagnoistics and do nasty things to the dealers diagnoistics box!

Once you have cut it connect it to the blue wire on the autoleads power supply.

Are you sure

Antenna control gives 12V out when the HU is on on pin 5.

The OBD diagnostics is on pin 3 and should have nothing connected to it.

Thanks for that.

I'll make sure I put the autoleads aerial adaptor in.
