Hi everyone...

Very new on here and just got my first Seat Leon... it's a 55 plate Tdi Sport and i'm a big fan of it... except the stereo!

I'm planning on installing an Alpine W235BT double din unit (can't post a link)

(has to come from halfords as I have vouchers)

I've installed stereos on all my previous cars so am fairly confident swapping it over, just need some clarification on exactly what I need.

I understand I need:

Two pegs for removing old stereo
Fascia plate for double din stereo (these all seem to be £35+ is that right?)
ISO block to convert SEAT cables to universal

And... what else?

Heard something about an aerial converter, and also I want the steering wheel controls to work - Halfords are trying to sell me an Alpine cable for 90p but i'm pretty sure I saw somewhere it needed something that was more like £30?

Any help is MUCH appreciated :)

You will need:

1. 4 Pegs to remove old stereo, 2 top and 2 bottom
2. Fascia Plate £22ish from SERE on here
3. FAKRA Adaptor about £3-4 on ebay for aerial
4. Steering control adaptor for your stereo which is around £30 with ISO connector on ebay

PLUS look into the Pioneer Double Din ones with DVD as they are not that much more

Thanks for the advice - I'll sort out the eBay bits...

Do like the Pioneers but have £200 of Halfords vouchers so can't really justify buying from anywhere else. Needs to have bluetooth so my options are limited to the Alpines, cheaper JVC's (which I'm not a massive fan of) or stretching to £300 for the Sony.

Is the steering wheel control just standard then? Doesn't relate to the make of the stereo?

It relates to the stereo and car. Thats how my Pioneer one was. The control adaptor will come with the ISO connector for £30-35. Ask the seller mate

sorry to jump in on the thread! but i just bought a PIONEER Avic F930BT will i need a Fakara adaptor for the sterio aswell or does it depend on the unit you buy?

cheers!

It would be better to eBay the vouchers and buy a unit on eBay, halfords is extortionate

To be honest it doesn't seem bad for the stereo I want... the Alpine is £175, I could get it for say £150 elsewhere but i couldn't guarantee getting £150 for the vouchers so not worth it. Plus at least if there's any problems Halfords is 5 miles away rather than getting it mail order.

How do I get in contact with "SERE" ?

Head unit purchased... fascia on the way from Sere, FAKRA aerial adapter and stereo keys on the way too. Just need to sort out the ISO block and canbus thing now.... the Canbus block was a ridiculous £81 at Halfords!

Ok sorry to be the guy with all the questions...

but if i get the CTSST001 cable off ebay (comes with a free patch lead for alpine), I need to get the normal ISO adapter as well for the normal connections right?

don't want to end up with a pile of useless cables

Does it not come with the ISO connector and patch lead in one? Mine did and had a similar code to the one you stated. These things shouldnt cost you no more than £40.

Also why do you think halfords is known as HALFRAUDS!! Complete rip offs lol

lol yeah some stuff there is outrageous... still fairly pleased with the head unit for the price but the cables are crazy money.

On ebay I can get the connector which basically goes from an ISO block to another and then another patch cable which is ISO to jack plug.

What I was asking though is do I need another ISO converter for stuff like the power and speakers and stuff or is it all in one?

Here's the finished install....

Only issue i've been having is the radio reception isn't great... I got the FAKRA cable but there didn't appear to be anything to connect the blue cable to as the corresponding blue cable was already linked up through the ISO block?
