Hi,

i have a leon 56 plate and want to know something

i am taking out tha aura headunit and adding in a new hedunit, do i require and new cable to connect the new unit or will the old ones be sufficient?

Thanks, a quick reply would be much appreciated

Max

You shouldn't do, but the 12v and IGN leads are likely to be the wrong way round
(so you'll loose your radio presets when you take the key out)

If you're new headunit doesn't have a bullet connection in each of the red and yellow wires to swap them over, Maplins do an adapter loom for about £3 :D

..

i aint too clued up on those terms, any diagrams?>?

cant i jus unplug and replug new one in and im done? or it a bit more complicated than that?

Not much more complicated, but it varies from one unit to the next. If you're lucky, you're new headunit will have connectors that can be pulled apart and re-attached again. So you can pull the red and yellow wires apart and re-wire the red to yellow, and visa versa.

If not, you'll need to cut the cables and re-crimp them together. Crimping tools are dirt cheap from places like B&Q and are handy to have for many reasons, so if you don't have one it would be a wise investment as it lets you do the job properly, and safely. It's a very simple job though :)

It sounds confusing, but I know nothing about electricals and I did it myself. It's literally swapping two wires around that have "bullet connectors" (ie - no cable cutting, stripping or anything that requires tools)

If you don't swap them, as has been said - you'll probably lose all your presets on your radio, which is extremely annoying.

As above, not all head units have the bullet connectors fitted inline, so you may need to add them yourself ;)

..

all installed, very simple,

but..... when i turn off with playback still running it doesnt resume the cd?? any reason or an explanation?

Thank you very much

I saw your post after i'd posted - laziness prevailed, and I figured you'd correct me anyway ;)
