Hi new to the forum but any help would be massively appreciated!!

So last night had a bit of trouble getting into reverse, it did eventually go in and from then on it was fine, no problems. BUT this morning it just will not go into reverse! And if it does when you let the clutch on it starts to kill the engine as though it's in a higher gear. And to top it off letting the clutch out in neutral it starts pulling forwards, I can get 1st and 2nd. But won't go into 3rd 4th 5th or 6th...

I've lifted the gaitor and all looks fine as far as I can tell, there's nothing hanging down under the car, and all seems to be attached at the gearbox end but maybe a little loose.

Any advice or knowledge would be great

You could "reset" the gear linkage to see if it solves your problem: https://vimeo.com/6881683

If that doesnt work, you might have a broken selector fork (it happens now and then). See: http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?113916-Loss-of-gears-(1st-and-2nd)-TDI-150

Wheeler dealers did a show about this (Audi TT episode)

I've had a closer look and like you say it looks like the selector fork is broken but it seems to be stuck in gear as well just to top it off!

What's the best solution now then is it worth fixing or just trying to get hold of a second hand gearbox?

Cheers for that. Had a watch of it and going to try and tackle it this weekend!

I know these are probably pretty daft questions but is there any specific tools I'll need? How much gearbox oil I'll need? Just want to make sure I've got everything needed before starting

Thanks again for all the help so far!!!
