What do you drive at the moment? I love my cupra to bits, most of the time...

The only real downside I have found 2 months into ownership is the way it delivers the power. It's very progressive, with lots of power spread over a large rev band. The downside is, that when your giving it the beans, a certian VXR pulls away better, as does a Focus ST and the older RS.

That is of course my view, other's whith higer mileage on thier cupra might find it better as it's more bedded in, but for the time at least, I'm getting pawned at the lights against any of the above mentioned cars :(

Build quality can be suspect in places also, but it is betetr built than the Astra VXR and Megane R27...

Ah, you have one of "those". This may come as a bit of a shock, but you will probably be best off keeping it. I looked at one when I was looking for the cupra, but the only ones the dealer could provide was an ST-500 (I dont like the red leather inside). I really wanted an ST-3, but was faced with a factory build.

I don't see that you would gain much by selling it. The Leon is a tad slower, a lot more expensive to buy, and lacing in kit over the ST too. The Leon does handle well, and looks nice, and is not avaliable in orange though!

I'm curious to know why you would like to sell the ST though?

The two main downsides are the build quality of some of them and fuel consumption.

As discussed in another thread a tank of fuel is over £55 nowadays and you are looking at about 250 to 300 range out of that. Oh and 98RON or above petrol is recommended (although many believe it gives no real benefit), which means you really need to use Shell V-Power or Tesco Super everytime you fill up.

Apart from that amazing car.

Insurance generally isn't too bad nowadays either.

Nah, I was looking at the Revo stage 1 for the Leon. Just trying to persuade myself that it may be worthwhile? It does give the car 300BHP, but it might come with side effects as that's a huge 60BHP boost over stock BHP.

The cars ESP is also too nannying. With more BHP, it might be even less drivable if "your in the mood". Like you, i dont keep cars long, but still feel that the Ibiza Cupra felt more like a hot hatch over the Leon - Even if it did have rough handling.

I can't see me keeping the Leon as long as my first Ibiza, and probably won't buy another Seat after this one.

Yeah, ppl who have the Revo on the Cupra do say it's totally different, but more BHP is not the only thing it's lacking. The engine note is flat, the exhaust is silent...

I'll want to change those too. It's not a case of can't afford it, but will need to persuade myself that I will keep the Leon long enough to gain benifits on the extra expense.

Unfortunatly, at the moment, I am on Seat number 3 - This is the one out of all of them that feels the least special. Someone will be along in a sec to say how good the Leon is tho, so don't take my negative comments as the views of everyone else ;)

In the attic!
Sell it and get a mk1 CupraR! I only have the mods below but i see off my mates 318bhp ST(i know?) without problems. He actually just bought an S3 cus i beat him(still has the ST also) Not to mention i can also see of my mates Focus RS without much trouble.

I can't believe it myself, i thought they would kill me! Especially the ST? My CupraR just keeps going, 160+(on the speedo, so prob 150+)

I have yet to find an ST or VXR that is faster than my Cupra off the lights ;).

Also, a full Milltek sorts the noise issue out.

Negative points of the Leon in my opinion are;
Centre part of dash - I think SEAT designed it with too much focus on making the Golf/A3 look better. They could have done it much better.
Fuel economy is not great, but it is better than an ST in that regard and no worse than the VXR.
Standard car looks almost the same as an FR.
Sound quality from stereo is crap.

Plus points;
They are rare.
Engine is excellent.
Comfort is excellent although ride is a little stotty with standard springs.
Brakes.

The ST and VXR are common and while both have positive points, the ST is a little heavy, thirsty and underpowered and the VXR is a bit like a Burberry Cap and has comparatively crap power delivery and torque steer compared to the Cupra.

The Cupra out the box with a few miles is clocking close on 260bhp on various rolling roads. The ST is lucky to attain is 220 odd just as the Astra struggles to put out the claimed 240bhp. There is no way a properly driven Cupra is gonna get beat at any lights by a VXR or an ST.

What the Cupra could def use is an LSD like the Megane and Focus RS.

I would go for it - or spend a little more and get a Golf GTi Ed30 which is essentially the same car with a better dashboard, poorer brakes, soon to be replaced body style and the option of DSG.

I am exchanging my ST2 for the Leon FR Diesel. You certainly need a big wallet to run the ST as it's supposed to be run and to be honest my orevious Type R gave similar performance but with far better fuel consumption.

202 Cupra's according to this thread :)

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=116132

Only seen 5 other Cupras in my local Area

Black one Decked out with £10k + stereo, non OEM body kit and a 4 digit number plate
Owens white one
Grey one
David Swansons yellow one
Black one

I know of a few others that have gone out of the local stealer, one being red with an Aero Kit.

You could see this many VXR's or ST's any day in one journey.

Long may it stay this way!

To the OP - Don't buy the Cupra as it will keep ours more exclusive

In a way, I think the FR looking so much like the Cupra might actually be helping to maintain the exclusiveness of the Cupra. So maybe a bad thing is a good thing :)
