hi everyone its not the first time i have been on here as i used to have a leon cupra 1.8 20vt, but now have just brought a cupra tdi.
its had a full milltec de-cat system put on it before i had it.
the car kicks out alot of black smoke even when u change gear at 2000rpm and even on pull off from a stand still.
if i put my foot down it kicks out loads.
at first i thought it mite be because the cat has been taken out but after a bit of research i dnt think thats the case.
can anyone give me some suggestions on wat this could be?
and would be a easy fix or do i book it in to my local garage?
cheers
mat

Yeah or the disk to have come off completely.black smoke from a diesel means it's unburnt fuel.

I am having the same problem recently. Excessive black smoke (I mean, so much that the car turns black at the back, clouds are visible when accelerating) and a new hissing when the turbo kicks in.

Basically, when I accelerate it makes alot of smoke, theres a little bit less power than normal on the wheel as well - a really loud hissing sound when i take my foot off the accelerator...

The sound is loud, quite difficult to explain... ?

Does anyone have an idea ? I have googled the problem, tho I doubt its the EGR..

Hissing on boost would indicate a leak in the pressurised side of the intake system - somewhere between the turbo outlet and the intake ports. Most likely to be the pipework. Look for evidence of oil escaping from a join - there is oil in the inlet from the crankcase breather and this gets pushed out along with the air. The leak could be in the intercooler, though this is unlikely.

The TDI 150 engine runs more boost than the other TDI's so is more susceptible to leaks. The oil from the breather makes the joins more slippery, which doesn't help. If you do find a leaking joint, clean all the oil off first before trying to remake the join.

Boost pipes - check for splits or loose connections that or your turbo is on its way out, check your intercooler pipes for heavy oily residue, there should be some picked up from the turbo but not enough to swim in.

Mine used to smoke a bit, not massive but enough that you could coat the car behind you if you hadn't gunned it in a few miles, then the cam went, (wore holes in three of the buckets) after I replaced the cam etc it barely smokes at all.

If its smoked like mad since you bought it it may have had a cowboy remap which is over fueling?? Food for thought...
