Leon drivers door lock cover

I'm awaiting an ST Cupra and will be using it as a surf wagon along it's normal role.

I always get a dummy key cut so I can lock the car and not worry about thieves etc, but on this model I understand they've hidden the lock barrel. I see how to remove the cover but over time that's going to look pants with all the wear on it.

Does anyone know if I can I get a cover with the lock exposed as per a normal car? Can't seem to find one yet....

Had a quick look and couldn’t find anything, but why do you not just lock/unlock normally?

Because the key isn't waterproof. It'll get trashed in salt water in seconds. A dummy key will need to be cut.

Will invest in a Keebunga waterproof case to keep key in I guess.

One option is to buy a spare door handle lock cap and then drill a neat hole in it. I guess about 8-10mm hole. Just enough to slide the key in and allow it to rotate...??

When unlocking the door using the key I sort of had to fold the key blade to the halfway position to get it to turn far enough to lock/unlock so if you're getting a dummy key cut it might be worth having a slimmer handle part to it.

Also worth noting that it might not let you start the car with a dummy key because of the transponder chip in the original key etc

OK scrap that idea. Had a look, it seems there's to much of a gap between the key slot and the outer surface.

Obviously the key would need to sit flush with the surface of the key slot to work... Oh well!

Unless you got hold of an extra long key....

Cheers folks.... yes dummy key just used to open door, but have found a waterproof key case that will suffice. Will keep the whole fob in there.
