Hi all,

I have my car going for a recharge tomorrow for its gas doing as its just blowing room colder than room temp air. I'm pretty sure the garage expects you to know what gas is required but after scouring the internet I can't find a direct answer.

I've looked under the bonnet as prompted from external sources, but I'm not even sure where I'm looking. I have also approached my user manual and within the 'air conditioning' category its just information on how to use the dials etc.

Any help would be appreciated, for context I have a 2014 Seat Leon 1.6TDI.

Thank you in advance!

If the garage isn't capable of determining which gas to use (and how much), find another garage. You're paying for a service, they should know how to perform the service

You wouldn't expect them to ask you which oil they should put in, or which brake fluid to use :)

There’s supposed to be a sticker that says the type and quantity however their system should tell them anyway

Hi, just dropped it off with them, on their website it said we expect you to request the specified gas.

Although after dropping it off they didn’t actually ask. Maybe a slight miscommunication on their website or it’s for newer cars that use the global warming friendly stuff.

If the garage is unable to determine which gas to use or the required quantity, it's best to find another garage. Since you're paying for a service, they should be knowledgeable about how to perform it correctly. Just as you wouldn't expect them to ask you which oil or brake fluid to use, they should be able to identify and apply the appropriate gas. There should be a sticker indicating the type and quantity of gas required, and their system should also provide this information.
