Guys,

I've got a Mk1 Leon TDi 2002 diesel and progressively over the past few years the electrics have started to fail.

1. Key fob for central locking hasnt worked in years
2. Fuel release switch doesnt work. Tried replacing the switch AND the actuator for the fuel door. no luck. I now just prise it open with my fingers.
3. Heaters for the wing mirrors are gone too.
4. Interior light doesnt come on when I open the door.

AND

5. Yesterday when driving home, the central locking suddenly activated and locked all the doors!!!

After screaming "Poltergeist" a few times, I unlocked the doors with the door switch, but it happened another 5 times before getting home.

Has anyone else had dodgy electrics on their Mk1?

where should I be looking to resolve this? I've check fuses a while ago and they seemed ok.

any advice welcome.

P.S. It's done 172,000 miles.

Hi I brought my seat Leon last week and surprising mine has also don't 172,000 haha I have a problem with the passenger rear door behind the drivers side when I unlock the car the door will not open but once I get in and drive I can park up and the door works fine

Hi mate, the light the locking and the key fob, are probably related to the lock module in the drivers door. If you scan the car with VCDS/Vagcom, then it will show fault codes for the central locking.

In the mean time, be careful with your keys as the drivers door lock module will often autolock the doors again, if you don't start the engine within 30secs of getting in. Lots of people have got back out of the car from some reason, before they have started the engine, and then the car has autolocked the keys in the ignition.

Hi mate, the door modules are a common fault on these cars. Sooner or later the lock module will fail completely and the door will be impossible to open from the inside or out.

Do yourself a big favour and order a replacement unit and change it before that happens! So many people on here have had to resort to ripping the panel off and then smashing the lock with a hammer and chisel!

It's a easy job while the door still opens but a complete nightmare when it becomes locked shut. There is a very good guide here for you buddy. http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthre...egulator-clips-and-or-door-lock-module/page19

No probs buddy. I know you can get them on ebay for around £20. A fair few people on here have used them and not had any problems so you should be ok, but as with all ebay stuff it could be a bit of an unknown.

If you want a genuine one then the best place is dave@sere motors here on the forum. He is a seat dealer and can post parts to you at a discount. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=366731 If you message him he will get you a price for one.

Not sure on that mate, only ever had petrols. Best thing to do will be to start a new thread in the mk1 section. When you start a new thread scroll down the page to the "new thread" box at the bottom rather than the one at the top. The one at the top is for the mk1 FAQ section and not many people will see it there. It's a bit of a strange layout and practically every new member makes the same mistake, i'm not sure why they don't move it tbh.
