leon mk3 supports wide tyres?

hi i have currently 225 / 40 / r18 tyres, does the leon support 235/ 40 / r18 tyres?

the cupra runs 235/35/19 I'm not sure if you will get any wider in there if you're looking for more grip though better tyres will be cheaper then new wheels.

The Cupra also has little plastic wings on each wheel arch to make the car legal, as the 235 size has the wheel just outside the body line without them.

Thought any vehicle that had it's wheels protruding from the bodywork was illegal and you can get a ticket for it, never mind failing MOT.

The ruling as far as I'm aware is the tread must not be visible when viewing the wheel from above, so while 235's would most likely be fine anything larger would most likely not comply.

Width/Profile/Diamater

235/35/19 is narrower and has less depth (profile) but will fit on a 19" wheel. 245/45/18 is wider, bigger profile but will only fit on an 18" wheel.

Yep, protruding wheels / alloys will get a ticket, it's on account of pedestrian safety.

I´ve got spacers (15mm in front and 20mm in the back) on my Leon FR with the factory 18x7,5 inch rims (225/40-18 tyres) and it´s still not protruding beyond the wings, you can´t see the thread when looking from above!

in my city i don't get a ticket for having big wheels.

I have them little black things on my slk and the wheel sits inside the wheel arch so I am not so sure these are for wider wheel.

They are for wider wheels! As the mk2 Cupra r has them (19"s) but the standard Cupra doesn't (18"s) but that's besides the point,

If it's more comfort you want id of thought wider tyres would be a step in the wrong direction, my thinking is more road contact more noise and vibration.maybe look at tyre compounds , eagle F1s have a softer side wall than say a mpss , so should give a less bumpy ride but less feel on turn in .

Iv 10mm for the fronts and was thinking 15mm on the rear but was concerned about are u rubbing etc

My old FR 184 I ran 235 40 18 with an offset to make them poke more, they still had loads of room and the tread was no where coming out of the arch, although you will struggle to get wider as it makes them sit very close to the shock. Never had any issues though, but as pointed out above you could try different offsets and spacers.

They'll fit perfectly well. Look at this 5d with the 3sdm you love (18x8.5 ET45)
