I placed an order yesterday for a Leon 1.5 TSI 130bhp FR and I keep thinking should I have gone for the 1.5 TSI 150, it's probably not to late to change as they said there was a 42 week wait on a new build anyway.

Would the 150bhp be better suited I believe it would cost me £1400ish more, I am coming from a MK 3 Leon 2.0 TDI 150 which has been remapped to 195bhp and 410lbs torque.

Just worried I am going to miss the power to much I have not driven a petrol car in 17 years either but don't want a new diesel now.

Actually its £1245 more for the 150bhp TSI, i guess I could always just do a remap on the 130 sometime down the line cheaper.

Are you getting manual or DSG? I'm assuming the gearbox on these is a DQ200. The limit on those is 250nm, which is what the 1.5 puts out. Not a great combo as it's the only gearbox in the lineup with a dry clutch too...

That's was also my doubt when I started looking for the 130hp, and finally got the 150hp. I think was the best, giving the fact they was only 500€ difference in Spain in September 2020.

Do it. Due to the pandemic my 150 order arrived as a 130 and I hate it; the engine has almost no torque and all it has arrives at exactly 1800 revs, then all gone again at 1850 revs

Well, do not expecte better torque before 1800-1900rpm with the 150hp as well. I used to drive an Octavia TDI 90HP and the torque at 1000-1100rpm was incredible.

I am planning to remap it after 3 years ownership anyway as below where I got my current car mapped, had no issues with it after 3 years.

not on this model no, but i did it from this company on my current 7 year old diesel and had no problems with it after getting it done in year 4.

I dont floor it all the time though I just really use the extra power for overtaking when needed. I did notice my diesel MPG dropped to 48 from 53 though after having it done.

It's there any difference between 130 and 150 one? Or is it just limited by software like the hybrid ones (204 for Leon fr vs 245 for cupra version)?

I am having second thoughts about this car now I ordered 7 weeks ago now, due to costs and thinking sticking with my Diesel is the better option, do you think if I cancelled the order now I would get my £500 deposit back or is that gone?

Whether or not you get your deposit back would depend on what‘s stated in the ‘small print’ in the terms and conditions of the document(s) you signed when you placed the order. The terms and conditions should include a clause outlining what happens to any deposit paid in the event of you or the dealer cancelling the contract.

I enquired and it seems I would get my deposit back, I think keeping my 195bhp Mk3 diesel is the best option it is quick, has £30 a year Road tax, I have paid for a 2 year service plan (not used yet) car has only done 41000 miles oh and above all it has a manual handbrake and manual fan controls!
