On the Leon mk3 FR I am thinking of spraying the panel behind the number plate. I've seen it done in gloss black and it looks awesome. I was wondering what the best way to do it is. I am looking at aerosol plastic filler Primer, to help smooth out the texture, then gloss black followed by lacquer. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks

Half tempted myself tbh, just make sure it tapped down as flat as possible and straight. I watch Jesse’s YouTube and he did his rear bumper but used tape that let paint underneath it so it looked uneven on the lines. Might just grab some cleaner to bring it back to life for a bit

What about wrapping it?

@Damo H had his done in white on his last ST. I think the process was to have it sanded flat and then primed and painted. If its the mk3.5, that part can be removed from the bumper if you take the bumper off.

Wrapping is probably the easiest but might leave you with a slightly textured finish.

Yeah I had it done on my white 280. But I had it done professionally as part of a crash repair. So only paid for the extra time as everything else was paid by the other persons insurance.

They sanded the plastic down to a smooth finish, then painted in plastic primer, before painting it.

They're also doing a panel for my carbon, however I won't get it till the lock down is finished for obvious reasons.

That being said, one of the wrappers at the Dyno day say wrap will work, just can't guarantee the usual 5 years. The way he does it to spray the plastic in 3M adhesive promoter to help it stick. He did also say after 18 months or so it will probably need redoing as water will get behind it eventually at the edges.
