That's the same day that I also discovered the vans can get you going away from them as well as facing you...

Had the same thing as the OP about a month ago except it was a hand held camera and a 30 zone and the clock was showing about 34, coming around a sharp turning on level ground hitting a steep upward gradient I applied a little juice coming off the bend at about 10 MPH to get back to 30 when I saw the cop’s so let the throttle go and looked at the speedo. They were in an odd place because they were only about 75 yards from the turn and to get from the sharp bend to their stand point you would need to accelerate like a Ferrari unless their main intentions was to catch speeder coming the other way.

I was the only car in the area in this quite unknown to me part of Beaminster in Dorset and you are right, they do clock you after you pass because looking in the rear view mirror after about 200 yards the cop suddenly turned around and took another shot at me and with me struggling to get up the steep hill I noticed the Leon was back at 34 again.

Well that was a month ago so I hope I was OK and besides with theses lovely curves on the Leon I think it makes it a bit like a stealth bomber and cannot be detected by radar.

10% rule is nationally excepted for speedo error, the +1 or 2mph is myth.
like i said matey, you'll be sound
n u watch on day 15 you'll be raggin it over the limit again ..........
i go through the 14day sweat everytime i come home to liverpool, drive back to london scourering my door mat - never learn mind

Speedos must overread your speed by between 0 and 10%, so obviously most car makers aim for 5% or thereabouts to avoid being outside that range once you take into account the variation in production and tyre tread etc. The guidelines given to police forces are to enforce a 40mph limit at 46mph (see http://www.pepipoo.com/files/ACPO/ACPO_enforcement_guidelines.htm) and are generally 10%+2mph before issuing a fine. Note this is only a guideline aimed to avoid people complaining about a ticket for going 40.1 mph for a split second in a 40 limit. This 10%+2 has nothing to do with the speedo 10% tolereance, because a speedo will never under-read your speed.

no point worrying or stressing , if youve been caught nowt you can do about it.

just be thankfull you were not doing silly speeds.

i had similar thing happen and had 2 weeks squeaky bum time looking out for the post every day.

It's 14 days to issue the nip plus a couple of days for post as long as the car is registered too you

That's a little less in the Policeman's Christmas ball this year !! ;)

If it isn't in by now I wouldn't worry!
