The ones you get on eBay are classed as "show plates" and won't come with the postcode on of the supplier who made them up. If there is no postcode on the plate then it is supposed to be an MOT failure if the tester is vigilant and actually notices. I guess there is nothing to stop you getting some show plates where you can specify some text at the bottom, which could quite easily just be the postcode of authorised number plate supplier that you happen to know.
