I have been having a few problems with my car lately(leon 110tdi 2000model). I was travelling home and had the foot down in 5th , the car just wasnt pulling after 3000rpm, the needle didnt seem to move much, then around 3500rpm it would kick in again...the acceleration seemed very patchy in 4th and 5th.

Iv read a few threads about MAF's going dodgy so tried cleaning it with dielectric gel...to no effect unfortunately. Also I must mention around a month ago my turbo went(bearings) and has been replaced since. It sounds louder now though.
I have one of those diesel tuning chips plugged in...do you think maybe it has been putting stress on the turbo? Or is my MAF just goosed??

Any help would be much appreciated...

um in 5th at 3000rpm arnt you going about 80? surely you dont need to go much faster.

but sounds like air filter or maf causing a flat spot.

get it out and have a look yourself theres a guide to cleaning it on here.

also crack open the air box and see if theres any leaves in there or anything that may cause air problems.

a real quick way to check maf mate.

cover up half the intake on airbox side, drive the car again. if power is back to norm, maf is "goosed". this will last til you can get one.

works by speeding the air up fooling maf but it works!!

otherwise you have to use vag-com and read air flow through maf.

hope this helps;)

Can't you just disconnect the MAF and see how it runs? If it is the MAF then the car should run slightly better (but not perfectly) with it disconnected.

Ok I unplugged the MAF and took the car for a run...performance is far worse than before.
Does this mean my MAF might be ok?Or should I probably change it anyway?
Hope its not anything more serious :help:

long shot , but my mate has a 110td leon and was having similar problems .he was told to buy a tin of 10k boost diesel , which he did so we did what it said on the tin and there was some big black clouds coming out of the exhaust but it has solved his problem. no more hesitation and no more limp mode. garage said its common for the intake and turbo to get sooted up ....not saying its going to work but for £18 its worth a try

Another possibility...iv been told after the turbo went excess oil would have gone into the cat.Does it sound like maybe the cat is blocked slightly?wouldnt I notice power loss throughout the revs and not only in 4th and 5th??
