Hello all!
I’m new to the forum and this is my first Seat “project”. I’ve come from a background of originally having rwd jap cars, a few e36’s and then got into off-roading with living in the lakes. Sold my landrover and wanted something a bit faster and more fun. So travelled to Scunthorpe to pick up my MK1 2003 Cupra R. Purchased from the son of Marc Taylor, who is known for his BlueLeonRacing team where he drives an 800+hp mk1 that has recently broken into the 9 second barrier at Santa Pod.
It has been resprayed in chalk grey, is polybushed with upgraded arb front arms, polybushed dog bone mount, turbo smart dual port dump valve, sytec fuel pump, BC Racing coilovers, BBS CH wheels and remapped to 250bhp and 394Nm. It also has some sort of aftermarket light controller with a newer spec auto lights switch on a flocked dash and a 7” Bluetooth head unit.
The car is relatively clean and solid but has few niggles that I want to take care of. My electric windows aren’t working, it had an ABS fault that I have fixed with a new front drivers side sensor. When the fuel tank is under a quarter, the needle moves with weight transfer of the car. There’s some bits of body work to take care of.
My plan with the car is to tidy it up and run it as is until it needs some major mechanical intervention. Then I’m going to do a full resto on the car and make it an OEM plus clean example with hopefully a built (after 2005) 225bhp block.
Thank you for having me and I look forward to many posts asking for help
