Hey

Just replaced my unit its roughly 12 by 10 cm not taking into account the size of the plugs on the longest side. Didn't experience any problems with the indicators connected with the unit but i did have problems with the interior lights connected with the unit and ofcourse the remote central locking.

Hey

Yeah after 6 weeks of no remote lokking and other peoples vag key fobs setting off my alarm, it was time to get it sorted, got one off ebay cost me £55 including postage, can get them cheaper than that but i wanted one that had the same code as the central convenience unit i already had, my boyfriend changed it over last nite, just gotta get the key recoded which only cost £15 for a guy to do in my area.

Hope that helps a little

oh and the location in my 03 plate, its literally behind the steering wheel behind the dash sat on a metal bracket, my boyfriend had to take the fuse box cover off then unscrew the lower dash at the bottom and also around the fuse box so it dropped down, then you can get in there and see it. mine is the SE model so it has two plugs, im sure it varies with the differnt models.

Managed to find the box Jay, was just wondering if the 1 u bought was exact same part number?? Was it just a case of plugging it in and getn key re programmed??? There's1 with same part number on eBay but it's off a beetle think itshould be ok

Hey

the unit i brought was the exact same code as the unit that was already in the car, you cant really go wrong if it has the same code, i think they use different units through the vag range according to what extras the different models have.

with mine being the same code it was simply a case of plugging the new unit in and connecting it to vag com and re coding the key and it was sorted.
