Whats the differance on the display between "Check Deadlock" and "Check Safelock".
Mine says one and the wifes says another.
Only differance I know about is that I have selective door unlocking so 1 press of the remote only opens the drivers door (mine is the SAFELOCK message).
Wife has both doors and boot unlocks (DEADLOCK message)

Cheers

I'm sure deadlock and safelock are synonyms. My car has non-selective locking enabled and I get the "CHECK SAFELOCK" message.

Perhaps it's just reminding you to lock it securely when you leave it.

All the new ones do this, think it was a 2011MY change, common across pretty much all VAG cars. Its just a warning and doesn't really mean anything.

Just had a search on the Web.

On some of the Volkswagen forums they say it is to remind you that just one press on the plipper will lock with the deadlocks and that you should be aware of this since doing it with children left in the car could be dangerous as they wouldn't be able to get out.

Certainly on other cars you need two plips to set the dealocks - the other way around. My old Honda Civic was like that.

Looks as if on some VW models with fancier display it says: "Check deadlock! See owners manual!" or some such. That seems really annoying.
