Are LCR's realistically available for this money? Only 2 pop up on autotrader for that price at all and due to being surrounded by water what it thinks is 30 miles is more like 70 by the time I factor in driving on roads

Currently tearing around in a 1.6S (takes a lot of effort to keep it going) and fancy a change.

Although I have no SEAT dealer near me I have been very happy with my car for the last 2.5 years. Also wanted an LCR when I got this one but couldn't afford it :(

What sort of age should I be looking at? Anything serious to look for bar the usual indoor pool feature?

Ta :)

If you want a car bad enough 70 miles is nothing ;)

For 10k I imagine you would be looking for one of the older LCRs with reasonably high mileage.

Worth checking out the for sale section of this forum and Piston Heads aswell.

Yea 70 miles is nothing. i live in N.Ireland and il be going to uk mainland to get my leon in the summer. there just aint the market for cupratdi's over here. It will be worth it. plus you get to drive it home and the longer the journey home the more fun you going to have.

Do you really need a LCR ?

Why not get a 1.8T or FR TDI - both would be a marked improvement on your 1.6, and both will have a lot less miles on to worry about ?

It's not the distance to go and get the car but to go and see one and sit in it and blag a test drive etc. I honestly can't remember what tey are like to sit in :(

Happy to travel 200+ miles to get the right car from a private seller mind :)

As for do i really need a Cupra R? No not really but it would be nice.

I'll go over the pistonheads sales though and see what I can dig out :)

Mine might be for sale soon, 03 plate 48k, I'd be looking for that sort of price. I have sat nav and recaros too!

I picked up a my LCR less than 2 weeks ago for 9k private. 03 210 with 36k miles. There's a couple of niggles with the car which will cost a bit to fix, but other examples should fit well with in your budget. Take a gander at piston heads. There's other examples on there that have sold for UNDER 9k.

Back in October I paid £10200 for my LCR on an 03 plate with 33k miles, with a years warranty, new MOT and a years tax. You'll easily find something within your budget now :)

S3's are nice but you'd get a newer leon for the money. i can't seem to find a S3 newer than 2001-2002 for much less than 10 large.

Plus the S3 is going to have stupid miles, and while there's no doubt it's still an attractive car, the shape's been round since what, 1997? So it looks considerably more dated than the Leon.

All the reasons why I didn't buy an S3. For the same money it would have been older, higher mileage and possibly in not as good condition.

Nice cars, but not great value for money.

They sure are.

I was looking for my Cupra R for 3 months. You can pick up decent low miler's for 10k if you look hard and long enough.

Having said that, I budgeted 10k to begin with, and ended up spending 11.5k :)

53 Cupra R 225 with 20k on the clock. I probably paid a little too much for it, but it already had a turbo back and remap (which i would have been doing anyway)

Don't worry I plan to sell my old Leon (or trade it in if need be) so in reality I suppose I could stretch to 12k....
